He continues to develop all the major stuff alone (I am aware he has 1 other person)
When he could hire a team to speed up this process considerably, and YES before you start telling me that it's a difficult process hiring, YES I know. But I feel more could still be done.
Or maybe he just doesn't really care THAT much about the game (I am aware he is pushing out updates on the beta branch) and wishes to keep all the money he has earned mostly untouched.
PS: This is just my personal opinion, please do not bite my head off if you decide to reply to this.
Anyone can make a thread that says "The developer is so rich, they bought a interstellar resort on the moon's surface!" without providing any evidence. ;)
Most would take such a miracle success to form a long-term studio and have tax rebates for that, but he seems to want to simply relax in his prosperity and take it steady - I respect that.
Honestly, knowing this guy planned on making the game just as a little passion project and maybe make a little money he's done very well for himself. He's gone on record saying that the game was supposed to be "finished" already, but due to the overwhelming support it's received and the attention it's garnered he's figured the game was worth continuing and he felt he owed it to the people who bought it and promoted it to improve it and make it better. He was also ecstatic that this little project of his caught so much traction.
Not to fellate the guy, but for what the game was and was intended to be it's already leaps and bounds beyond.
Buying Unity engine license and some assets is just a tip of an iceberg.
