echoes since "minor update: voice chat changes"
Hi.
This is my first post on this board. I tried to find my very issue in the discussions list, but there was no entry matching. So I think this is worth to start a new thread:

My friend and me play phasmopobia since a couple of month, partially from pc to pc, partially he uses his pc and I use an oculus quest (virtual desktop rift application).
Since the last update we have major sound troubles.
I hear my own voice in a very loud echo, his voice is almost muted. The windows settings are okay. every app with voice chat is working fine, the echo only appears in voice chat in phasmophobia.
We read on this board it's worth trying to use the "push to talk" function (pc to pc), but it causes the same echoes when the v-button is pressed on my side, and his voice is still very much muted, almost unhearable.
We both use the Logitech G332 headphones, with no troubles at all, only this one.

Is this a known bug to anyone else?

Cheers from Bochum and Cologne , Germany

If your friend has his microphone connected to the front of the PC tell him to try the back ports. Me and my mate had the same issue and it was resolved when my friend connected the microphone to the back of his PC instead of the front.

I brought this up back in July 8th after me and my party suffered so hard from echoing that we had to resort to third party voice chat just to get comms up and going without going insane.

You need to lower the volume-per-player percentage in the roster before the mission or in the ingame audio menu. My buddies and me set the others volume to 20-30% and it seems to fit the old setting before the update.

Sure, but I never have this echo problem in other games or on discord.

Some seem to struggle understanding the issue people are having lately.

In our case, one of our friends suddenly got this problem after an update.
Anything this player hears on discord/phasmo, is played back through the game.

This only happens in Phasmophobia, only for this one person, and on any microphone he tries.

Since ghosts can hear everything you say even with push-to-talk on, this issue is completely game-breaking for this one guy.

It doesn't matter who he plays with. Everything anyone say is echoed through this one guy.

dang, that's rough, our group has just switched to discord and essentially just mute everyone in game. So I'm guessing muting does nothing for him?

Correct, muting in game doesn't work for some, for me it's good. Other's, that doesn't even work. It's dumb.

Still having this issue today. (me and by buddy /solved/ it by just turning me down really low in game, but he can't hear him through his mic. I think it has something to do with headset feedback when they switch audio interfaces.

Audio is definitely borked...

Haven;t played in months, but never previously had issues til starting back up again the past couple days.

Everyone is on headsets, no speakers and Discord works just fine. But as soon as we load up Phas, it turns into a giant echo-ing mess and unplayable.

We've tried everything but nothing works. Guess we'll have to shelve the game for now til they can fix it.

What we do is just hit the sliders to zero and use discord, its fun but it does kill the moments where the ghost takes out comms. But we've been living with that and its fun for the time, so disappointing that the ingame comms echo so damn much.
