And yes, I recognized the spirit immediately from the activity.
But it's still a good RNG lucky time.
Yeah me and my friends really lost our minds when we get in and the Demon started a hunt at 90% sanity.
It's been on my mind, but there isn't much of a luck compnent, because the odds of that happening are neglectable.
It's been a while since math class and if this doesn't check out I hope someone corrects me. Any ghost should appear once in 24 runs, or about 4% (rounded). A Mimic then has a 1 in 23 chance of posing as a Demon. To get a Mimic posing as a Demon should be an 0.18% chance, so that's about once in ever 555 runs. I'm not gonna take that into account.
Of course it's random chance and you could play three rounds an get three Demon-Mimics, but what are the odds?
odds are higher than they should be, honestly. There's been at least 50 times where I'd get the same ghost 3 times in a row. A dozen or so times where I got mimics pretending to be demons 3 games in a row. I do play a lot tho..but this crazy stuff happens a lot
The speedrunning community takes world records in highly frequented games and categories very serious due to their high value withing the gaming community. Your opinion about how insignificant something like that is doesn't really matter, if the rules expect you to prove, that you knew the right ghost (after all that's why you need a recording to prove, that your run was valid).
on the speedrun category rules for TrueAny% that would btw. be about rules 5 to 7.
Obviously anybody who achieves such a run can send in their recording and see, if it gets accepted, though i would always recommend to read the rules first for any category you're trying to attempt.

And also in your calculation you're assuming, that the Obake appears in all investigations in which you don't get a Mimic-Obake, at which point 0,167 % would be correct (or every 600 rounds. Keep in mind, that the Mimic can mimic 25 entities, including itself and the player)
Though if you take into account, that the Obake itself also only appears every 24 investigations or 25 times within the 600 investigations of where 1 Obake-Mimic appears, then we're actually at a 3,85 % chance of Obake-Fingerprints actually belonging to a Mimic.
On speedrun com there are hundreds of seperate leaderboards (for all combinations of player numbers, maps, goal, etc), so saying that 3,85 % is insignificant would mean, that like 2-3 dozens of leaderboards would contain a wr run which is heavily influenced by just guessing, which is not really what speedrunning stands for in the first place
Since the ghost doesn't actually spawn until you unlock the entry door, there's only one ghost that allows for this happen.
