There sure is room for improvement regarding of the controls, but c'mon.
E = Pick up item
F = Place item / Light candles
Right click = Use Item
Left mouse = Turn video-camera placement / Open truck
Hold Left mouse = Move doors/drawers
T = Light if flashlight is in inventory
You have different kinds of interaction with items that are incompatible. You have the left click to interact with things in the environment and rightclick to interact with items in your hand. It would be SUPER ANNOYING if you'd have to throw away what ever is in your hand to (for example) turn a light on or off.
What's really bad is the shop and the loadout screen, but that's a very common complaint and I hope they change it in the update, but at this point I even made that work. Stick with it. It's a good game, it just got a steep learning curve.
Very common buttons in more or less every game out there
speaking of which i just checked the games you played and i noticed that you played Destiny 2 which also has a bunch of buttons with abilities and menus that you need to know before being able to properly play the game or your class, i dont seem to understand your point honestly, this game is not even close to being a bad game based on the buttons, there is like quadruple time worse like arma that i have mentioned to where you have to study the games buttons to be able to properly use most things,
You have only stated, that you have issues, but not why (and i would even argue which), especially since you start with complaining about each button being mapped to 3-4 actions, but then just listing tons of examples of actions, whichs each is clearly mapped to a single button. I still don't know, about which additional actions you're talking about here. They had inconsistent button mapping like 8 month ago, but since then it got all remapped to be standardized for all items (as explained by RubyRose as well as the new ingame tutorial)
And you've even explained in your initial post, that you've actually understood it: E for picking up, F for placing down. So why do you understand, how to place a camera, but not a DOTS projector which is literally placed the same way? There's definitely an explanation missing for me.
