At least they were kind enough to make us aware of this in advance, and to provide a consolation prize for our efforts thus far in playing the game and leveling up.
The real reason they're doing this is to erase all the thousands of levels cheated accounts and custom difficulty exploiters to force the game to have meaning to progression again. It's not even out of early access and people have millions of dollars saved. Never believe the convenient excuse, think for yourself and realize that if they can store our levels for a badge then they can recall them with givexp after the wipe too. They're actively choosing not to because it benefits them to wipe.
you will have the new equipment and money back in no time and back to complaining about adding ghosts and maps again.
been known for over a year that it all would be wiped at some point before official release.
If you're worried about having to grind back up though... don't - the progression rework is going to be bringing buffs to the mission rewards and a lot of other great features like equipment upgrades. It's going to suck for the short term, but be worth it in the long term... if that makes any sense.
Oh also yeah... this is Early Access... a game in development. It's not too uncommon to see this sort of thing happen.
Turns out, I just need to slap together some assets and give it some artificial marker of progression and the average gamer will start freebasing it.
Also EA's handling of its sports properties.
The point is that the level on our profiles in Phasmo is meaningless.
You didnt progress. You didnt unlock anything but other difficultes.
This also aint the only game that does wipes.
And FYI, Every single EA game thats yearly released has at least
- new stadiums
- New teams
- New gameplay elements
- New features
- new rosters
- New numbers
- Game engine updates.
Now you can like or not like that, but that is what is factual. Wether or not you think price is worth, is subjective, but I personally dont buy a EA game every year. I buy one every 2-3 years maybe.
So no, You're not talking about 'releases'.
As long as that means we don't all have to start at the very beginning and grind out all our items tediously, then I'm fine with it.
I don't care about levels at all. It was always a meaningless number. No value. No purpose. I just don't want to have to grind in a game like this because that would be insanely boring.
Lot of people are focusing on just the wipe and not all the other good that will come from the rework. Mission reward buffs, a gear price re-balance, completely new gear AND upgrades for existing gear... that's just a few of the things I saw on their Trello.
You know what's hilarious? You put 1000 hours into a virtual number that has no effect whatsoever and think you've actually earned something
