hiding spots are bs?

I was hiding in the farm house, first floor, at the entrance behind 2 shelves (and yes there's like 5 pixels of a crack inbetween ,but he never even looked at me, and some how he found me and killed me even after wandering around for like 3 seconds to look for someone.

and it happens every so often with hiding spots that are not simply a full covered wall

Some hiding spots have a small chance for the ghost to see you if they walk to a specific spot. Especially ones that are not 'official' hiding spots(official ones can some times be blocked on higher difficulty but unofficial ones are always there).

In this case the shelves are not always there(some times there is just one), so it is an official hiding spot, so it should be pretty safe. However, there is a spot the ghost can see you from if it walks to the corner of the room behind it.

Quick add-on, not all official hiding spots are perfectly safe either. For example, behind the plastic boxes in the garage and the table in the first basement storage room on Willow both rarely work from my experience. Some are still better than others, such as behind the storage shelves in willow or most lockers or closets. Even unofficial spots like the chair upstairs in Grafton are especially good, because even if the ghost sees you go into them, you will still usually be safe if you were seen from a certain angle because the chair barely breaks line of sight at the correct moment.

one type of ghost for sure will find you no matter where you are. others will heat seek you as well depending on the level of the aggression and if one of your teammates has started a cursed hunt or agitated the ghost.
