100% GPU Usage in VR
I have 5950x, 2080ti, 64 gigs ram @3600, Oculus Quest 2, Oculus link cable with 2.9gigs of transfer speed with USB3. Lowered all in game settings or disabled them if possible. Lowered all Oculus graphical settings to lowest setting. When I launch Phasmo my GPU load instantly spikes to 100%. I tried googling and youtube, Cant find any fix. Changed Physx to CPU in Nvidia settings. Nothing I try works. Any help? Any suggestions?

lock the fps or something? 100% usage is normal.

I could be wrong but I believe the Quest 2 isn't officially supported/optimised yet. Can you see/hear the GPU being stressed out? If not it could be a bug.

Yes, if I launch the game normally I get very high framerate cuz I have a 360 hrz monitor.

I did lock the FPS before posting to 72 since thats the lowest Oculus Quest 2 can output. It didnt work :/

Your VR headset and the 'facebook' software is secretly mining your GPU?

Lock the refresh rate on your monitor to a lower one, or change that in the ingame desktop settings, when you do VR you render the game on the desktop + VR headset at the same time.

I don't see a point in 360hz refresh rate monitors for games that could be more intensive on the GPUs since it'll hit 100% load before it reaches 360 fps.

I didnt hear anything unusual under high load I just didnt know it was 100% load until I opened Task Manager while trying to run Phasmo. And yes Quest 2 doesnt officially support Phasmo but its literally the most popular VR kit according to steam hardware charts. Cant be the only one with this issue :c

I'll do this now. If it doesnt work I can use another monitor that only displays 60 fps max.

That does nothing if you lock refresh rate on the VR headset but not the desktop game that also is rendered on your desktop, which probably does not have a limit imposed on it.
Better to restrict monitor refresh rate to 144hz or lower in general for most GPU intensive games, because even on a 2080 Ti you'll likely hit 90~100fps out of 144hz capacity anyways for GPU intensive games.

Nothing worked. I locked Oculus and monitor refresh rate all the way down to 60. Swapped to a monitor that only displays 60 fps max. Just wandering does the game require a long time to load? When I launch its at like 1 FPS and theres a loading icon. Should I just wait? Seems to be forever.

Lots of issues with VR in general from the last big October patch, frame rate drops are the biggest issue. The quality of the VR play has dropped significantly before this but it continues to be a neglected feature. I've tried all the suggestions on optimizing VR play for my current setup (Oculus 1, Ryzen 7 and Geforce 1660 Ti). It had been working just fine in earlier builds.

Sorry to say I can't even use VR any longer at the moment. I'm very much hoping the optimization starts being a priority again, because right now its clearly not.
