Not always, no. But guys clearing all objectives before the door is even unlocked is something that has been happening in this game. You even insta get bone and all perfect photos with empty book.
I've played with guys using teleport cheats. Guys who can use cursed items infinitely. Guys who cant be targeted during hunts. Guys that know ghost room and ghost type before we even get into the house.
Some cheaters are super subtle about it, most are not because this game doesn't have an anti cheat and the only way devs will ban someone is if they believe a report that is submitted is legit. So cheating in this game is very low risk for the most part.
It's only going to get worse until this game gets anti cheat protection added to it. I used to rarely come across cheaters. Now I get one or so a week. Had a lobby a couple weeks ago where it was clearly a duo running cheats together.
In any event, the developers do actually conduct a proper investigation based on user submitted reports, and take appropriate actions to those they deem guilty. They do not rely on an automatic ban system.
Cheaters can:
"(...)Set the ghost type+speed+age+name+ghost room+gender+if shy, auto pickup bone, auto complete objectives, auto vote map, godmode, freeze the ghost, teleport themselves+items from the truck, esp for the bone+ghost+event+fuse box+players, they can set the cursed possession and have certain things they can change for each one, they can start and stop hunts, trigger events, trigger different interactions, toggle fuse box, kill people, and so much more. They can do a few things for themselves only as well, such as change their own prestige and level, unlock all trophies, unlock all achievements, give money, fly (...)"
It's such a pathetic way of playing the game. And not only the cheaters but the increasing number of players exploiting glitch spots. Like, you can never play on Camp Woodwind without someone using the tent glitch. It's so lame ...
Yeah no. Last time I played multiplayer, one guy I was playing with entered the house and immediately says "Guys, it's a mare. Let's go."
The ghost hadn't used the mare light switch ability, no evidence was gathered yet (nightmare), no motion sensors were set up yet to confirm if the ghost was wandering away from lights, no ghost events had happened. Dude called mare confidently before any actual investigation or ghost behavior and wanted to move on to the next house.
When I asked him how he could tell it was a mare because the ghost hadn't even done anything yet, his answer was "I don't know, I just know it's a mare 100%." Refused to elaborate further and kept saying we could go back to the van.
He was prestige 5 and had no knowledge of identifying the hidden ghost abilities on our earlier matches.
Sounds like something someone with a reportable account would say
A script kiddie using a trainer is not a hacker, full stop. People misusing words does not mean the word means what you want it to mean. This is as dumb as using one of your friend's PCs and opening Facebook with them still logged in, and claiming you "hacked" them.
The term "hacker" is already commonly used for at least 2,5 decades alongside "cheater", especially since many common cheating tools have "hack" in them (wall hack, speed hack, etc). It's safe to say that it got used so much in online videogames, that the definition already shifted when it comes to gaming.
And as you've said: It's not about you to decide what it means. That is also true for you not wanting to accept an already successful change in its definition
People using words incorrectly does not change they they were just as wrong 25 years ago as they were now. The "definition" has not "shifted" anymore then a lack of education on the topic then as is now. Don't be daft, we both know "hacker" and "cheater" are not interchangable when we look at what "hacking" entails and "cheating" entails.
Words have definitions for a reason. When we ignore what words actually mean, we might as well just go back to grunting. Collective ignorance is not an excuse.
