Do multiple ghosts sing?
I just had one that I got killed on unfortunately, I was trying to secure more evidence and I didn't loop the couch right and I ended up getting grabbed. It sang to me multiple times, which would suggest it was a Banshee, but it ended up being a Mare. This totally confuses me. Do Mare's sing as well as Banshee's? Just when I think I'm getting the hang of this game, something happens that confuses me even more.

All ghosts can sing. Banshees are more likely to sing around their target though.

The sure-fire way to confirm a Banshee is to hear it scream on the paramic.

Thanks, I'm trying to learn, I don't have a mic yet. I'm brand new to the game and I'm only level 5.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend plying the training mode to better understand the equipment. Pay attention to the stickynotes and whiteboards since they help with keybinds.

As for the lck of mic, you can go into your settings and set your voice recognition to Text. It gives you a text prompt on specific equipment that works in place of a mic, but only for that equipment.

You can also see if its a banshee by the hunting.. It will go after its target an ignore everyone else (long as you are all in the house) so this is another way to check to see what kinda ghost it is =) When you look at a ghost that has ' forced ' evidence its gonna be using the detector. So a banshee doesn't sing more then other ghosts, but will have a DISTINCT song it sings.. if you listen on para.. There are various ghosts that have forced evidence in this way.. Takes awhile to learn them all, but its not too bad as you play more, an more.

That’s not “forced evidence” It’s a unique non evidence Tell. It doesn’t have a distinct song it has a roughly 30% chance to scream instead of a normal paranormal mic noise (very quiet scream though). Forced evidence would be like Deo with spirit box or Obake UV.

As for the person talking about settings for the mic; p sure they were talking about paramic.

And the actual sure fire Way (when you have 3 evidences) is getting the evidences. You need to learn how to accurately get each of them.

There are roughly a dozen different ghost sound effects for male and female ghosts (sounds the ghost makes when manifesting / hunting). At the start of a contract, the ghost will choose one of these sounds to be the hunt sound, and will use it exclusively while hunting. The rest will be randomly selected from for events, though some events have a more restricted list that the ghost can choose from.
In this case, you are talking about a "singing" ghost event, where the ghost will manifest near the player and begin to sing a sort of song. I believe there are 2 or 3 different "songs" that can be picked from. Banshees are more likely to do this event, but that does not exclude other ghosts from choosing it too. Therefore, a singing ghost event does not prove banshee, but it does help tip the balance towards thinking it might be a banshee.
This is particularly helpful in higher difficulties where you will not get all three evidence and so will have to use alternate means to positively identify the ghost, or barring that, make an educated guess. In the banshees case, singing ghost events can help you make a guess, but hearing the scream on the paramic will positively identify it. Since there's a relatively low chance (33%) that when the ghost choose to make a paramic sound it will be a scream, it can take quite a while to get this to happen, which makes it fairly dangerous to get.

You have all achievements, why are you trying to go out and purposefully misinform to make the game worse for those trying to learn? Please get a grip.
