No footprints in salt?
Did the phasmo devs remove the ability to get UV footprints when a ghost steps in salt? I've had 2 games on Professional in 1 hour with ghosts with UV that didn't show footprints after stepping in salt. One was an Obake, so I could've gotten unlucky, but the other was a Hantu, which doesn't make sense. I'm so confused.

From what I've read, the UV in salt only lasts a second or 2. Best bet is to get while hunting or wait for a door/lightswitch.

Footsteps don't seem to be consistent. Not exactly sure how they work, but I've immediately checked salt piles when they are walked over and none of the 9 made footprints. This recent game was an Obake, but if it shares the 25% chance to not show, then 9 piles should have shown something. It's very common though.

Did you hear the ghost keep running around after stepping in it? If a ghosts waypoints end right above the salt and the ghost then not wandering around for a few seconds, that might simply cause it to not leave footprints at all, since it needs to walk around to do so.

It lasts for 10-15 seconds. Though the Obake can half the remaining time of any currently active UV print, which can make it dissapear way faster, especially when it gets used multiple times in a short period

This makes sense, one was a Hantu and I wasn't very quick to check for footprints. The other was an Obake so I probably got unlucky. Also, how exactly do you check for UV during a hunt, just door touches or what?

I'll have a uv stick or flashlight pointed at the salt piles on the ground to check for it mid hunt. That said, they do feel a bit inconsistent.

I tend to just toss 3 piles into a ghost room and check all 3, as it normally doesn't take long for the ghost to step on them while I'm watching.

25% chance or less per pile so just drop 2 - 4 on top of each other and a UV torch pointed at it and wait for them to appear -- Unless its not UV :GhostScared:

I've noticed placement helps too. I tend to keep away from objects like beds where footprints can land underneath as well as rugs tend to 'hide' those uv footprints.

A ghost can also stop moving after stepping in salt, leaving no obvious footprint (like under a rug or something. So you need to be thorough with your UV scans, and sweep if you hear multiple steps.

I just experienced this last night. No UV on salt. ( I was right there as it went through it.) But about 5 minutes later got the Obake hand print. I just figured they changed the RNG on it.

Obake has a chance to not leave UV evidence, it is it's special ability. So if it doesn't leave feet, that is intended. The ghost should stomp after stepping in salt, if it doesn't stomp it won't leave feet. So you need to check while it is stomping around. Also the footprints last like 3 seconds, so you need to be quick.
