This game was great, now it sucks!
I loved this game when it first came out, my kids and I would play regularly. It was creepy, we'd figure out the ghost on easy most of the time and each increase in difficulty seemed like a natural progression. We got together this week to play again and it was painful. The menu is painful, starting a multiple player private game was painful...then we get in the game and played 6 times on amateur. Each game went like this........walk around the house not getting any evidence at all, lights go out, go to the fuse panel reset the lights, walk around find no evidence, hear creepy noise, ghost kills us all, game over. It's way too hard even on amateur and absolutely no fun at all. I think in 6 tries we got 2-3 pieces of evidence in total and the spike from a calm house to all of us getting killed in seconds was ridiculously quick....we all deleted the game, there is absolutely no fun to be had here.

i understand your point, but disagree :

The early phasmo was spooky as everyone was in honey moon phase, but the gameplay was very bare bone and the game very easy once you got the hand on it :

-Enter the building, find the cold room
-Stack up evidences
-Run in straight line in case of obvious chase because ghost can't catch you (unless revenant).

Today's game is far more challenging and interesting, but also more confusing :

You actually need to deduce the ghost by behavior sometimes because the 3 evidences becomes too hard to finds depending how the run goes.

You need to be very cautionous since chase are less obvious and more deadly

You got lot's more tools and possibilities than before.

All in one, the game drastically changed, and i now closer to a mix between reflexion and horror than the party game it was, for the better or the worst.

They upped the hostility of the ghosts for the Halloween event as well. It'll go back to normal after the event ends

Old days wasnt all good as you may of forgotten, selecting the ghost evidence was more annoying, you couldnt pick specific maps if you wanted a specific difficulty as it was random, spirit box broke every other match if you played in window mode & cold breath always told you freezing + ghost room without any effort. Also depending how old you played the speed of which you moved was slower making games more sluggish.

The mistake I see lots of new/casual players make is just walking around aimlessly hoping your emf will go off, or you get spirit box. You gotta listen for things being moved and find the coldest room. If you're not playing with a headset, play with a headset. Makes a world of difference.

On the easiest difficulty, 8 out of 10 times the ghost wont even start hunting.
It only starts hunting if your sanity is low, which only happens if you hang around dark areas for too long or experience too many ghost events. Sanity drain on easiest difficulty is so slow that even if the fuse box goes out a few times, you shouldnt rly be in hunting range still.
in hunting range still.

Even more so, the ghost cant even kill multiple people at the same time on the easier difficulty, so 1 kill and the hunt would be over. I really feel like you are doing something really wrong and blaming the game for it, but that's just my guess.

Agreed, souls level hard is not accurate, however it was souls level frustrating (and I've beaten Demon souls and Dark Souls 1-3).....and the ghost did start hunting every single game. We played 5 or 6 games on amateur and they all went the same. New game so no money, starting with the default load out which is one flashlight for the 3 of us (why is a flashlight not default for everyone?). Creep around the house looking for evidence trying to keep the lights on. Get 1 piece of evidence maybe, ghost hunts and kills 1 of us. 2 left keep looking maybe get another piece of evidence, maybe not, ghost hunts and kills another (like within seconds of the hunt starting, there seemed to be little to no time to run and or hide?). Last player goes in, dead in no time. The fuse box in each game went out probably 2-4 times before we were all dead, we went 0-6......so apparently we suck badly but to me amateur wasn't all that easy and should allow "newbies" to learn a little easier....like someone said maybe the difficulty was spiked due to Halloween, who knows but with so many other options out there why bother?

the ghosts are more aggressive then normal because of the event, but that dosn't change the speed of evidence or how often the breaker goes off from what i've noticed. Hunts are just more likely to kill someone cause the ghost more often spawn closer & are more likely to hunt when you're in hunting range.

It sounds a lot like you arent managing your sanity at all.
Ghost hunts (with one single exception) are always tied to sanity.
There are some ghosts that can start hunting as early as 70%, most usually start hunting at around 50% AVERAGE sanity (very important). Easy mode also has a 5 second grace period from when the hunt is triggered to when the ghost can actually kill, usually plenty of time to start running.

I'd be very curious to see actual gameplay from this.

Rose tinted glasses. The game has never really changed. It has been years of sidesteps in content and changes; not any progression forward in any meaningful way. It's the exact same game.

I see many comments mentioning no real advancement or progression in this title, can anyone recommend similar titles that may be "better"?

BOO MEN, released in 2022 now on discount, its fun and creepy, mp included. Perhaps there are better games with same ideea but with more dedicated devs that cares about their game and players which here as many can see they just don't even bother around.
