Report a translation problem
The game is very clearly going in the direction that our minds are what is being attacked, not our bodies. This will be further reinforced once the horror rework lands, due to them adding in hallucinations. As such, it doesn't make sense at all for our physical bodies to be affected.

Course, we only appear to be strangled by other players - on our own... we just see a light bulb popping while we stare at the ghost across a room, which could be symbolic of our last shred of sanity finally being "popped".
Regardless, full body manipulation doesn't really fit when our "health" is explicitly labeled as Sanity. And of course... all of this is subjective and conjecture; I think we are meant to be forming our own opinions on all this and it's all left up to individual interpretations, which is fine in the grand scheme of things.
