Official Release…
In the past year phasmophobia has done big things, Ascension and Eventide etc. But what will the release be.

It is currently the final third of the year which some people might call “late 2024”. Which is the expected time of release according to the early access page of phasmophobia.

What are the stakes for kinetic games to come up with something as anticipation is on the rise?

The roadmap reads “2024 and beyond” so release could be 2025 or even 2026 if development slows for any reason. Horror 2.0 is the last update to get it into 1.0 so that’s all we really have to go on.

No idea what people are on but the game is NOT going to be in 1.0 this year lol.
Late 2025 at best I'd be shocked if it's in the middle of 2025.

The roadmap on the steam store page is outdated due to unforeseen circumstances. The current one is the one most up to date (though the version numbers are off by one as of the Eventide update being changed to v0.10 instead of v0.9+).

Realistically, we're probably gonna see full release in 2025 if all goes well.

The big update is when they make all the new character models and stuff.

I'm pretty sure a cosmetic update isn't going to be the "big" update for the overwhelming majority of the playerbase.

Leaving early access phase doesn't change anything other than getting rid of the Early Access-Tag on the store page. That said, it's only fair to keep that tag, as long as fundamental changes get introduced and i don't really understand, why players would want it to get removed when they only advantage for doing so is on the developers side.

Cosmetics and farmables are usually one of the big pillars of any game that wants to offer high replayability. Might not be as important to the gameplay, but it might get tons of players back into the game, which have lost their motivation due to not having any goal anymore.

Funny number going up is what keeps people playing long term. Give someone a bar to fill or an infinitely growing number and that will be why they keep playing.

If they didn't have a goal of making funny number go up, some useless cosmetics aren't going to change that.

That's basically what i said, cosmetics are just a number game, like unlocking 100 pants or doing X mission for Y and such. Whole games build around this concept after all, so it wouldn't be that surprising, if it keeps people busy for a while.

If you look at the progress over the past 4 years would you say that early access development has finished? You look at what phasmophobia used to be and it looks like your average horror game. Now it’s one of the best ghost games out there.

It’s easily the best ghost game out there and they’re still underachieving.

I’m trying to figure out why people aren’t liking it so much, but that’s probably due to nostalgia reasons.

I like it because I think the gameplay loop is fun, especially if you play on modes without all 3 evidence, and it requires some intuitive thinking and planning, like sometimes it gets boring, but then I get this one ghost that really knocks my socks off.
