My general jist is to not rely on loud droning noises and jumpy stuff to provide the scares and atmosphere, but to craft it through genuine doubt and potential manipulation, by leaving room for you to start second guessing yourself and what you're witnessing, leaving yourself vulnerable to manipulation for the sake of a lead in an investigation.

^ Amen, Im way more into this type of horror, I should dread even walking into a locations. I should argue with my friends about going in again, not from ship poppin up one centimeter from my face, but from a sence of being chased, watched, followed or just errie stuff happening or sounds.

I thought of a few locations that might work great for this aswell:

Either a big clothing store type of deal, lots of mannequins or why not a "Madame Tusssauds" type place? Great for that psychological terror feeling and no jumpscares at all.

The game would be better served by introducing more evidence since not all evidence is guaranteed to trigger. Adding more ghosts means little if the underlying mechanics can't always correlate. It's also essentially cosmetic, not functional.

They need some Japanese location for the Yuri, and Oni. A haunted Japanese inn would be cool or a haunted temple. A European mansion or castle would be awesome also.

Everything triggers, sometimes it takes awhile. The ghost personality is determined upon loading into a map so sometimes you'll get clues right off the bat and sometimes you will have to anger him until they show themselves 20-30 mins in. If you stay and provoke them long enough you will always get your evidence eventually. Shy ghosts take longer.

Snow maps, a log cabin in Alaska. A northern Canadian townhouse in Alberta or something. These houses would require you to heat up the place before you can find temperature anomalies. The log cabin with a wood stove and the townhouse you'd just have to turn on the furnace. It'd add a bit of a challenge as you won't be able to use the thermometer to get evidence, however you could turn on the heat and sit in the van, then start the investigation.

Jumpscares are good and should be in every horror experience, but used sparingly and done at seemingly random times. This game already has some Jumpscares with audio but not so much visual. Atmosphere builds tension but when nothing happens for so long you get too comfortable. For example the ghosts sometimes say, "behind" on the spirit box. Sometimes they should actually be behind you. Depending on the ghost when you look behind you and see it, it might start hunting then and there. That'd be scary.

Jump scares are to horror what tickling is to comedy. The game needs to foster a sense of terror, not horror - despite the name. Horror should be done sparingly but jump scares very rarely.

I think this is the case tho. Me and my friends have had evidence for Ghosts like never show up or really late into the investigation on Proffesional difficulty.

Abandoned nursing homes, cemeteries, old abandoned theme parks (heavy with ghosts of children) Colonial era houses, small or large abandoned ghost towns, battlefield ruins from Europe and America. A Japanese location like the suicide forest.

A ruined Motel/Hotel for a small map.
A maussuleum in a graveyard could be a great medium map.
A old castle for a big map.

I think u should need to take the Ouija to know how the monster is called.

I think we need something new about terror, may the monster should switch between rooms and u need switch all may..

Ghosts:
1. Friendly ghosts. First I want to say that I agree with those who recommend ghosts/apparitions that are not there to kill you. That would make it alot scarier when you realise the ghost in front of you actually wants to kill you.

2. Hoax. Also, as someone here already said, where investigators find evidence that there actually is no ghost at this location.

3. Multiple ghosts/apparitions. How about adding the possibility, on higher difficulties, to have more than one ghost in a map at once? Maybe some would be friendly and some would not. This would have an added effect on the larger maps. The objective would still be to find a certain ghost, like right now, but with some more spirits to fudge up the investigation. Imagine coming into a room in the asylum, having the temperature and EMF showing there's something, just to have someone saying "Go away" or "leave me alone" on the Spirit box. Maybe even just a sob or a cry. Or having someone throwing basket balls at the basket ball court in the High school.

4. The white lady (The lady in white). Maybe only goes after the players playing as male characters, because of the lore of a cheating husband, or something.

5. A version of number 4 that only hunts women.

Locations:
1. Japanese House, like some locations in the Fatal Frame (Project Zero) games.
2. Manor/Mansion. Like "The haunting of Hill House", "The haunting of Bly Manor" or even "Crimsons peak".
3. IKEA. I mean, come on!
4. The Opera house. The ultimate haunting spot. A stage, backstage facilities, audience area and orcestra pit, to mention a few.

I'll just copy and paste my suggestions from another thread. Since the thread was posted a prison map has been released so you can ignore that one.

"Absolutely loving the game and there is very little I would change between EA and release, I definitely think more maps would be great though so here are a few ideas, I'm sure some of which will have been suggested before.

Bunker - look up Hohlgangsanlage 8 (Jersey War Tunnels) something like that would be a perfect setting, an underground war bunker, perhaps the site of numerous experiments. A maze of claustrophobic corridors, no windows at all. Absolutely pitch black without any artificial light and sound echoing for a long way.

Cathedral - Ground floor would be relatively small consisting of mainly one room but underneath that would be a far larger floor, an underground crypt. Lots of Gothic architecture. Could have lots of demonic goings on.

Department store - multiple floors and a basement (or two). Lots of mannequins could definitely help with atmosphere especially if a ghost could manipulate them, imagine turning around and seeing a store room full of mannequins have all re-orientated themselves to face you.

Entertainment complex - arcade with activity areas and fast food outlets maybe some sports areas like a gym and/or basketball, squash or tennis courts for example, lots of things for ghosts to manipulate. I've never played Five Nights At Freddy's but from what I know it would be a similar sort of setting.

Factory - haven't really got anything industrial yet, big imposing brick building. Production rooms, store rooms a few offices. Maybe have some automated production lines and machinery which the ghost can turn on and off.

Hospital - a bit like asylum but maybe with more but smaller floors, reception floor, treatment rooms, larger wards. Thinking a bit like Mercy Hospital from 'Left 4 Dead' and 'Payday'

Hotel - thinking a cross between 'Room 1408' (pity "we've only just begun" is copyrighted) and 'Ghostbusters' lots of small-ish rooms, maybe a suite or two, reception area and a large event/ballroom. Lots of phones and radios for a ghost to manipulate.

Library - two floors, one with larger rooms for the public including reception and staff spaces and a basement with a maze of aisles of racking definitely thinking a 'Ghostbusters' vibe to the basement.

Mansion/Manor house - game play wise essentially a scaled up farm house but with a very different aesthetic. Big old imposing spooky house where everything creeks, numerous large rooms with claustrophobic hallways.

Museum - few large exhibition spaces surrounded by smaller rooms. I could picture something like 'Night at the Museum' but more horror orientated. Lots of weird artworks or statues that maybe change designs to freak people out, also lots of things to give off shadows. Some rooms with glass roofing for when it's raining or there is a storm to add to the atmosphere.

Office block - let's face it, most of us have at one point or another hated where we work, that's got to attract ghosts. Lots of medium size floors with rows of cubicles, private offices and meeting rooms. Ghost could have lots of fun settings off all those phones.

Prison - abandoned prison where the death penalty was in place. Numerous prison cells as well as common areas and administration areas (security office, staff room, warden's office etc). Perhaps as a slight change the CCTV within the jail can only be accessed from the security office rather than from your van. Also you would have metal bar doors in place in the corridors as well as for individual cells rather than regular doors so you can get trapped between sets and still see the ghost coming when it's hunting.

Supermarket - one very large floor, one big main room with lots of aisles, smaller stock rooms, staff room/canteen, offices and large loading dock. Main part of the store would be great for getting turned around in when in the dark with aisles stretching on out of view. Imagine the fun a poltergeist could have with all that stock on shelves."

I think like an Circus would be really scary for some people or sort of a "funhouse" lots of clowns and ♥♥♥♥.

New ghosts would be cool to look into like "Skogsrået" in Swedish, the Forest Nymph of sorts. She is beautiful in the front, but the back is all rotten and disgusting, so she lures people into the forest. Similar that might lure players in with activites on monitors and such, until the fall into a trap of a specific room or something?

Would be cool with more monsters that arent just insta kill when they get you and get you to feel more hunted when it happends, also some that are really fast and loud as they move would be horrible
