Also make sure that the ghost room light is off and be alone in the room, most ghosts don't respond with multiple people around.
If you've done all that and it still doesn't respond try to anger it either by swearing or by using its name to get a reaction as some ghosts can be extremely stubborn. Hope this helps
Secondly: as raptor mentioned, make sure the room you are using the ghost box in has the lights turned off. (Flashlights don't seem to matter though.)
Lastly: as of a recent update, only asking questions will work with the spirit box (ie no more "show yourself" etc.)
