So it is kind of hard to tell if it is just low activity or a bug. It does happen some times though.
Basically you have to first locate the ghost room 100%. Don't assume you have the ghost room because you saw the temp drop to 11 degrees Celcius once. Make sure. We had a game today where the ghost was actually in the foyer but a lot of evidence, EMF and sounds/movement looked like it was coming from an upstairs room. Turns out it was false readings going through the floor when the ghost was below us doing stuff. Temps may not give off anything at all until you piss the ghost off a bunch and call its name or lower your sanity. So keep that in mind.
Once you DO find the ghost room, throw the ghost writing journal in. Throw 2 in if you have 2 as it increases the odds that one of the books will have ghost writing. Can be put anywhere in the room as far as I have seen.
Each time the ghost rolls to "interact" with an object, the ghost writing book will be considered for one of those objects. You just have to play the waiting game with it and its why I usually find the ghost room and throw the ghost journal down first. That way while I'm going in and out of the room all game it will eventually write in the book. Again, just have to wait and sometimes piss the ghost off a bunch.
We've been able to get the ghost to write in the book every time we've needed it to. We've had a few times as stated earlier where we got a false positive for what room it was and spent all game stumped. Once we confirmed the location we got the ghost writing within a few minutes.
Just make sure you double and triple check with all your evidence.
Again, can you confirm you 100% are placing it in the same room as the ghost? Is it in the room you are seeing ghost orbs or freezing temps?
Hard to give advice or call it a bug if we don't know for sure. There's a lot of conjecture and false flags people are throwing around with this game because there is quite a bit of randomization to the game. :\
It really could be bad luck. I have had games where it was a ghost writing ghost type but it took like 10 mins to write in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book. Most times it doesn't take that long though.
I've had a ghost refuse to write because of the car alarm going off in the garage which is haunted, soon as we get the car keys and turned off the car alarm it wrote lol.
Sometimes there is special conditions that need to be met, like saying it's name alone or together, lights, placement. There is multiple factors at play.
