therefor, leaving the house is a relief, you would not get to feel those things if the house had completely no ambiant noise
but to each their own
For me its everything; crossing the threshold gives me chills because I can imagine the cold, heavy silence in the atmosphere. It's meant to make the ghost activity seem sharper, closer and shocking in comparison. It's an intentional vibe, don't take it out.
Haha i love your description.
Well in another thread I was discussing with someone about having the Developer add more Sound Options in Game Settings. One of which was 'Ambience' - Rain/Thunder/Truck Radio etc
I suppose it would make sense to include the 'Atmosphere Dampener' to that list.
I've watched plenty of people stream the game and that has never been an issue among any of them, it doesn't mess with the stream in any way, it's atmospheric noise.
You don't even really hear it anymore after a short while unless you intentionally try and listen for it.
All that being said, I don't think it would harm anything to have a ways to turn it down some or something either as I don't think it has any real gameplay influence other than letting you know when you are inside.
It's extremely loud in my recordings for some reason. It's also annoying for me because I cant hear a single thing xD
It's...somewhat of a cheap trick...but there's always a place for cheap tricks. So it's more a matter of that volume, it just gives me a headache over time. I want to be scared by the gameplay, drawn tight by the ghost's manipulations, I want to doubt what I'm seeing...not just worn down by a loud droning noise and jump scares.
Extra effect in VR, like a breath of fresh air when you leave the house.
First someone complained about the hands over the face because it triggered their autism.
Now someone complains about the heavy tense air sound making them deaf.
