Ouija board and Sanity
So, the Demon's weakness is that it doesn't drop the players sanity when getting a response on the Ouija board. Are there any other ghosts that this applies too?

Reason; Myself and two friends were in a hunt. We found the Ouija board and one friend asked it a question. We immediately went to the truck and checked our sanity. I was not next to the Ouija board, one friend was, and the other friend is the one that asked the question. When checked, all three of our sanity's were within 5% of each other. This would only be possible with a Demon. The ghost was not.

There are a few different things that can happen when you talk to a ouija board. Loss of sanity is only one of those options. I might teleport the ghost directly to you, it might start a hunt, it might drop your sanity... I'm not sure of the full list, but those are some of the things it can do. When it's a demon and it rolls for 'sanity drop,' you just don't lose any sanity.

I believe the sanity drop is ONLY if it replies to you, which I believe there is a 33% chance it replies (basically useless) 33% chance it ignores you (also useless) and 33% chance you piss it off, end prep phase, and trigger a hunt.

I do believe it giving you a reply also raises it's activity level so you can get a photo at least, but the replies themselves are useless. If you ask what it's favorite room is, it will only reply with what room it is CURRENTLY STANDING IN, so you could be lied to. None of the info seems to matter unless we discover that the victims' names trigger intense reactions just like speaking the Ghosts names, but so far I have read nothing to suggest this.

It's really only good if you want to force it out for a photo, but you'll want smudge sticks and a crucifix just incase (I do not know if the Hunt triggered by failing a Ouija board will bypass the Crucifix protection but some Ghosts can be countered by throwing the item through them (but only some))

When I was on a team that used it earlier, it was only like a 10 point loss. So if he was 5 points higher than you and used it and then was 5 points lower than you, how can you really tell? I would of double checked it in that case. It is too close to call.

What probably happened in that situation was some sort of ghost event, like the ghost opening or closing a door near you, or turning on a light, or throwing an item around. It's entirely possible you didn't even see whatever the ghost did, but it happened near you, so the game ASSUMED you saw it and docked your sanity accordingly.

I was curious if spirits were especially stubborn about not responding to the ouija board. A video posted on YouTube today had a team attempting to solve a case using behavior patterns only and they had a spirit that just refused to talk (at least at first) over the ouija. Your sanity should only take a 40 percent hit if a non-demon answers a question using the board. I think it has a radius affect that hits nearby players as well as the interrogator. It's best practice to keep the board off when it's not in use.

if the ghost doesn't like your question it will make the lights flicker to let you know to stop using the board.
So, to clarify for everyone mentioning other things the ghost could have done, "...when getting a response on the Ouija board"

It answered my question on the Ouija board but there was not sanity loss.

From what I've read, there are 3 possible outcomes to a Ouija board.

1. You will have a 40 percent sanity drop (UNLESS the ghost is a Demon, which is equally bad news)

2. The ghost will be instantly teleported into your room

3. The ghost will immediately begin a hunt.

Yes, and in my question, I noted that it responded on the Ouija board but there was no sanity drop. But, it wasn't a Demon. Thus, the question was asked.

Then what I'm saying, is that one of the other two options happened instead. Thus, the question was answered, if you really read it.

Well if your sanity didn't increase at all then that is probably a bug. Using a Ouija board if the ghost is a demon doesn't completely remove sanity drain. If you use the Ouija board there is a 1/3 chance the board will decrease your sanity by 40% and give you an answer, every other ghost besides the demon will also decrease your sanity further by 5-10% upon giving an answer UNLESS it is a demon.
So basically demon still drains sanity just not from the answer.

This game has some absolutely retarded bugs so this wouldn't be unheard of.

I had that today. Using it is just inconsistent to check for sanity and determine whether its a Demon or not.

That's not how it works. Someone on the Reddit decompiled the game code and shared tidbits. If the Ouija board answers you successfully, you have a 1/3 chance of having a sanity drop instantly. Unless it is a demon, in which case the sanity drop will not happen.

That's it, that's all there is to it.

That's exactly the place i took it from, it never specifies that it doesn't decrease sanity at all if its a demon, just that it doesn't decrease sanity from an answer.

Entering a recognised phrase into a Ouija Board has a 1-in-3 chance of doing all of the following:
flickering all lights in the player's room
increasing your insanity by 40%
Ending setup phase

All ghosts besides Demons will increase your insanity by a random value between 5 and 10% upon receiving an answer

I guess its up for interpretation isn't it?
you would think if demon would completely remove sanity drain, it would mention it, idk tbh.

That's all that's relevant in this case, not sure why you added all that extra wordage to it. We're talking solely about the Ouija specific sanity drop.
