Truck lurkers
If you're just going to sit in the truck all game.... play solo. So lame if you just make us a man down.

Safe too say they aren't at least acting as mission control over the radio? If they are then at least it is some minor aid, keeping tabs on sanity drops and spikes in activity.

Often in public lobbies we go to the house and after 5minutes everybody is circlejerking in the truck while i do all the work. Bonus points if they have no mic.

Totally stupid, yes. When you to scared to play this game play another game. Because of that I only play with friends.

There's plenty of reason to not have everyone inside at all times. Some clues can't even been gathered while inside. If you have someone who absolutely refuses to enter no matter what, that's a different story, but having someone in the truck in large maps at all times is something that my friends try to do to help direct people and read sensors, otherwise what good are sensors and the map? What good are the cameras?

We frequently swap out when sanity becomes a problem as well. It's not just one person's job, it's just one of the jobs that need to be done.

Sure. To check some audio sensors and other stuff it's okay. But every second in the van is not okay.

I've got a question for you. Do you complain about it on maps where the ghost is shy? If so, then that is a problem. As much as you might like to have multiple hands in one of those missions at a time, it's actually detrimental to the mission to not have one person in the house at a time and everyone else waiting in the truck.

If they're using coms and checking graphs/cams, the person in the truck is one of the most important people on the team.

yep, you gotta check for ghost orbs, level activity, teammate sanity, sensors, etc. this role is extremely important.

I'm not talking about someone who goes in every now and then to check sanity, sensors, and whatnot. I'm talking about the people who just refuse to go back into the house and do nothing but look at the "ghost orbs" (which the last person who did this was wrong anyway" for the entire match. Instantly booted them after the game.

Mission control is perfectly fine. I recommend they help during the safe window but manning the sensors is helping the team.

i dont have any problem with people truck lurking, especially on asylum or school. the general rule for me is if they at least make a run or two inside dropping of some equipment when needed.

but especially in school, and asylum, it pays to have a player available at all times to guide the lost.

My friends and I play with a group of 3-4 privately. We almost always have 1 person who likes to spend more time in the van. I mean granted they will still come in to help with getting evidence here and there but about halfway through when things start to get risky around 60% sanity, it helps to have someone in the truck to keep an eye on things.

Also if you don't have any evidence and the ghost is not responding to anyone or giving clues (or the freezing temp gun is bugged), it really helps to have someone sit in the truck with sound sensors, motion sensors, etc. Also carefully watching for spirit orbs and sanity tanking helps. You know generally if someone rapidly drops in sanity without seeing the ghost that its probably a Yurei. If it manifests and its a phantom and you see 1 player who saw it tank in sanity, now you know for sure what it is.

So ya, there is a purpose to have someone sit in the van for longer periods of time. Just as long as they are actually helping, talking over the mic, communicating with the team on what's going on, etc.

Also really helpful is telling the team what activity levels are at as the people in the house anger the spirit or pick certain things up. We still haven't figured out if there are key items that each ghost randomly has attachment to or if its just picking up anything in the house has an RNG roll to determine if it reacts to us picking it up. We've had times where we pick up a family photo and the ghost FREAKS out. The person in the van sees the activity spike to 10 and lets us know that w/e we did really pissed it off.

Lastly, you want to manage sanity sometimes. Either if you want the person with the lowest sanity in the house or not. Or if you have a feeling its a Banshee and you know who its target is you can keep safe. Its all about managing what you want to do and how you want to go about handling the ghost and your teams sanity.

Most times now even on Professional difficulty we have 3 people go in and start finding the ghost while 1 guy from the van keeps bringing stuff in and keeps tabs on the monitor while going to and from the van with equipment. So ya, don't know the van guy too hard. :^)

Why do you comploain about people who have no mic if you simple ask them in game if they have a mic in the lobby, if they do not answer, find a new lobby?

I am sorry but I feel you're putting yourself in that situation

I feel there are two levels to this. One where a person is just getting afraid and one where they are checking out. If they are getting a bit afraid and head to the van for a little break that is okay and often time you can get them back into the building if you go as a group. So my suggestion is offer to group up with them and they will probably come back in.

The second are people who are just checking out because they feel it is too dangerous. I think that can be okay, but if that is you, you should tell people. Say something like, "I feel it is too dangerous to continue so I am staying in the van."

There is a grey area in the game, where leaving vs pushing things a little further are both valid. So it is okay to discuss it with each other. You can probably work something out, and some times the person chicken out could bring some sense to a group being too risky. However, as the person in the van some times you need to realize you got a job to do and push forward just a little more and help out.
