Mic not working on steamdeck
Seems to be a problem with Phasmaphobia specifically, because the headset works in all other games without issue. Feels like I have tried everything in game settings, anyone have any suggestions? Is this a common issue? I cant see any mention of it from devs.

Kinda sucks considering the game is Steam deck Verified :/

It has to do with the 'New Voice Chat' system that they just implemented. It's having more issues than us on the Deck as well. as of right now- i don't think i know or heard of any work arounds.

Thanks for responding. That sucks, I just want to play with my wife :c
I hope it's at least on the devs radar to fix it, since I noticed some older threads that mention it worked fine on steamdeck before.

I'm having the problem on PC as well. All other applications hear my mic just fine, but Phas does not with this new update. I wish I could up-vote!

Same issue if you play on Linux (basically the same as Deck).

Having the same issue trying to play with my partner who just bought the game. I'm on linux they're on steam deck, voice chat doesn't work which means spirit box won't work either :/

Edit: Global chat is working in-game in our private lobby once we're loaded into a map. Local chat doesn't work in hub or in a map.

Yeah, seems I can't hear anyone (unless they use the walkie talkies) nor speak once we start the game. Even in the first minute or so of joining the lobby, I can't hear anyone or speak. I know it's not a problem with my headset because it works in the lobby, eventually (and even worked in one game), and it works for every other application. Moreover, after closing the van and going back to lobby, I stay back in the game for up to a minute (not on the loading screen). These problems do not seem to be occurring for my friends, though...

seems like this is a linux problem..
they better do something about that. I don't want to hear my girlfriend saying "well thats what you get for using linux" xD

Hello, thought i'd check in on this discussion. There has been an update pot claiming that steamdeck should now be able to use voice now. Can anyone confirm yet? i haven't the time to test yet.

I tested out after the patch but its still not working, then I noticed the patch actually just specifies

"Known Issues--
Vosk voice recognition does not work on Steam Deck"

So I guess this means they are working on it. Hopefully the next patch is a fix :/

I have gotten to play bit, the voice chat works sorta, very low quality short ranged audio, with alot of audio skipping. voice recognition never worked on my deck regardless of what setting since i got this game.

When I tested with my wife, I was only ever sometimes hearing myself through her characters audio. As if the game was playing the system audio instead of the mic

I'm still unable to hear others nor speak when we start the game. I can only hear others when they use the radios... Everything mostly works fine in the lobby (Except there is some times a delay before it starts working when I first get back into the lobby).

I read on Discord that they're aware the mic doesn't work on Linux, but it's low priority because technically Linux is unsupported. If you're still having issues on Steam Deck, check Discord for possible solutions.
