No ghost events at 0 sanity?
Played a round today, which lasted a whopping 38 minutes. Reason? I did not get a ghost event. I was just hanging out in a closet at 0% and nothing happened for a good 20 minutes. I then started to wonder if ghost events don't happen at 0% anymore. I went to my truck and got some sanity meds and within a few minutes I got a ghost event. Couldn't find anything on the Wiki about it, or maybe I overlooked something, so I'm posting here.

I'm not very fond of that mission objective, because I can't influence it at all. It's pure luck and while it often works out just fine sometimes it frustratingly doesn't. I wish the devs would remove that objective together with the annoying photo objective.

There are a couple of criteria for a ghost to successfully do an event, so you might not have been meeting those. Otherwise you were just the victim of bad RNG.

When the ghost decides to attempt a ghost event, it must first find a target player in range. The target must be near the ghost (I don't know the exact range, it's fairly large, say 15 m) and on the same floor. The ghost will then attempt to teleport near the player and do the event. I'm not sure if the teleport function has a chance to fail or not (ie, if the ghost tries to teleport to a location the ghost can't be - on a table, outside the house, etc). So on larger maps, it's very possible to be too far away from the ghost for it to ever find you to do an event, and on almost every map, it's possible to be on the wrong floor.

Assuming you were close enough - as most of the houses are small enough to be near the ghost almost anywhere - it's entirely possible the ghost decided to roam down to the basement and make that its ghost room, and then just sat around down there. When you left and came back, it might have roamed or changed rooms again and been able to target you again.

I should note that only one ghost has a specific sanity based interaction with events - the shade. In addition to the other requirements for an event, the shade has a flat chance for the event to fail equal to average sanity. At 100% sanity, the shade will 100% fail to do an event. All other ghosts just have the normal activity increases as sanity decreases, which means they are more likely to do events as sanity goes down, but that's also RNG based.
ok...realy bad RNG or you did something wrong...

-> On which difficult did you play? there are difference
-> Which Ghost did you have? Shade normally dont do ghost events in the same room as you.

Ghost events occur with every sanity... it happens a bit more often if you have low sanity... But there are also rounds where the ghost doesn't feel like doing anything. Gw you practically caught me when I'm sitting on the couch and the laundry is done xD.

Range is 10 meters and it did happen for me after I used some meds. It was on Tanglewood, which is small anyways. Ghost was a phantom if I recall correctly. Maybe I just had really bad luck, or that seems the best explanation. Good to know that it can also happen at 0% tho.

At 0 sanity it's also prone to hunting rather than eventing. Depending on the difficulty it'll probably spend more time hunting than anything.

Maybe the ghost was afraid of your name, maybe it didn't want to go to hell, maybe it realized its best chance at staying in limbo was to hide while you hid.

I just had a phantom run with no ghost event on professional difficulty on tanglewood. It was part of the contract so I was shooting for a perfect game.
I dipped past 50% sanity but wasn't going to risk a hunt to get the $200. If I didn't have to.
I stayed in ghost room with lights off for a solid amount of time.
might be these conditions that make it not happen?
