Jinn without breaker
How can I identify Jinn, on custom difficulty, with destroyed breaker?

I'm afraid the best answer is in the form of an Invincible meme...

"That's the neat thing, you don't"

I'm tempted to say get evidence, but if you're playing on a custom difficulty without the breaker, I'm assuming you're already at 0 evidence as well.
Best way to identify at that point is to eliminate all other ghosts. Good luck with Yuri and Goryo.

probably your best bet is to eliminate all the other ghosts and then you ll eventually end up with a 33% chance between jinn goryo and mare

If you can get any evidence at all, find some so the odds are a bit more fair. Otherwise, you're gonna have to go through the painstaking trial of ruling out every other possible ghost, including the "Undynamic Duo" of Goryo and Yurei.

You can do a Jinn test, aka, standing at the far end of hallway and if when it sees you it speeds up like crazy it's a Jinn. You can go check insyms videos on youtube about identifying ghosts in the worst circumstances.

Unfortunately this only works with the breaker active, so would not help in this situation. This is, however, a great test when the power can be on!

Yes, with 0 evidence too... so, you saying there is no other way... huh... yurei can be easy eliminate, in house I think, but stuck on this difficulty with mare, jinn, onryo, goryo... onryo candle test its not always 100%, so its always fun.. :/

I suppose with unlimited time you could also rule out goryo, by just afk-ing for a long long time and checking if the favorite room changed :P

Onryo test is actually fairly consistent in that is ability will always trigger a hunt on the third flame extinguished. The key thing to remember though is that these flames also double as a crucifix to the Onryo, which can throw you off if you aren't properly keeping track of the "three flame rule", and are lighting more candles than necessary for the ability to properly trigger.

in addition to the above, the time the onryo needs to hunt after the flame is extinguished seems to be quite random at times

I had an onryo taking a whole 8 seconds to hunt after snuffing out the third flame once
it still hunted on 90+% sanity which confirmed it to be an onryo for me at that point, but in that 8 seconds I almost left the house thinking the onryo test failed
meanwhile it seems a lot of people expect the hunt to always happen instantly after the candle goes out, and incorrectly ruling out slow onryos

The ghost changing rooms is only a chance, it isn't a guarantee. Any ghost can potentially stay in the same room for the entire duration. Unless you are playing on Insanity and have an average sanity of 0, in which case the ghost is guaranteed to change rooms after a long roam.

Which is one of the problems with some of the tests for specifics ghosts - most if not all the ghosts can randomly do the same thing. They just don't do it consistently. All ghosts can potentially stay in the same room. All ghosts can potentially wait 3 minutes to hunt (spirit test). All ghosts can blow out candles, so all ghosts can potentially blow out 3 then randomly attempt to hunt.

Of course, there are some that are guaranteed. All ghosts leave footprints in a salt pile except wraiths. Banshees won't kill anyone but their target. While all ghosts can randomly path directly to you during a hunt, only a deogen slows down when it gets to you.

[...]

I mean, thats why I said with unlimited time you can rule out a goryo, as a non-zero chance with infinite tries will always eventually happen^^
or in other words, with enough time spend it becomes a guarantee :P

after every long roam there is a chance for the ghost to change its favorite room, like on nightmare at ~50% sanity that chance is roughly one third I think
which is more then high enough that you can expect any non goryo ghost to change their room eventually, and while the ghost not changing their room does not confirm its a goryo, changing the room rules goryo out
