Spirit Box and Ghost Events

Do spirit boxes go off regardless if that's the evidence or not if you have a ghost event? Because I asked it a question, got a ghost event in response and the little ghost on the spirit box lit up. But it was a Jinn??? Which doesn't have that evidence??? Someone explain cause I'm confused.

Okay so the little ghost icon will light up, but that's just the ghost disrupting the equipment and not a spirit box response? weird :/

I never actually tried using a spirit box during a ghost event, but that makes sense. Everything else glitches out during events and hunts.
