Mimic Bug?

We had multiple instances of not getting perfect investigation bonus, even with full album of 3 star photos, all tasks complete and correct ghost type, when the ghost was a mimic. Anything we are missing or is this a bug?

For the perfect game you also need to find and take the bone apart from finding the ghost type, completing tasks and filling the book with 3 star photos as far as im aware

Depends on what the 3 star photos were of. If it was just salt for example, you're missing the perfect investigation bonus because, in order to get it, you need a picture of the ghost, a picture of the cursed object, and a picture of the bone, too. (You also need to pick up the bone.)

No, you don't need a picture of the these things. The current investigation bonus solely checks if all photos are 3 star. It was only back in the days with the old rewards system, that people took photos of ghost, bone and the cursed possessions, because they were the most valuable photos and otherwise it would be nearly impossible to get to the 40 $-photo bonus, but that's not necessary anymore.

Yep I recommend using one of the many available "cheat sheets" it's what my friend and I have began using which has resulted in more cases being solved, who doesn't like that?

thats really odd, you should have all the requirements for perfect investigation

its just:
- 10x 3 Star Photo (no matter the type), getting even a single non 3 star photo within the first 10 makes perfect investigation impossible
- complete 3 tasks
- pick up the bone
- select the correct ghost
- nobody dies

so...
just to double check, noone on your team died or disconnected right?

Not dying is not even a requirement. My partner died in the game we literally finished just now and we still got perfect investigation bonus. (no revives either)

odd, i just remember not getting perfect investigation once when someone died and all other requirements were met so i assumed you couldnt get it when someone dies...

Sometimes if the bone is in an awkward place (e.g. in the bath) it's not possible to take a 3-star photo of it. That's one way of possibly not getting a perfect investigation.

As previously stated, taking a picture of the bone is NOT a requirement for a perfect contract.

You probably got a sad 2 star photo and didn't notice. Stupid things can sometimes mess the photo up and you might not realize it if you aren't checking each entry in the journal carefully. Otherwise it sounds like you did everything right.

I am confident (although not without a shadow of a doubt) I had multiple occasions where we did everything right and the ghost was a mimic, not giving us perfect bonus, but next time it is a mimic I will double check the photos and take screenshots to make sure.

Hi Rated_R_Rabbit, we experienced something similar for the perfect investigation bonus. I don't know what is behind it but completely understand the feeling you work so hard and it's so disappointing not having it. The game can sometimes be arbitrary. The star system is also sometimes arbitrary but since it can go both ways I guess it works in average ^^. You can have the perfect bonus investigation even if you die, I took a screenshot of it where you see the perfect investigation bonus and you lose points for dying. To report the bug the screenshots are the best way. Good luck.

Perfect Investigation requirements are as follows:

>Complete all 4 objectives.

>Get all 3 star photos in the journal (there's no mandatory photo type required unless you have the ghost photo objective).

>Pick up the bone

Mimics don't have any known bugs with preventing perfect investigations. As far as not getting the bonus, my immediate guess was that one of the photos wasn't a three star, as those are the easiest to mess up; Not sure what kind of photos you guys got, but I would avoid door interaction photos due to how inconsistent they are; fingerprint photos on them are fine.

I will say, if you want to make sure you don't get any 2-star photos accidentally, there's one easy way that we've been using recently.

Step 1: Take all three of your salts into the house (make sure your UV and such is around if you're still checking for evidence, of course).

Step 2: Put ALL the salt down in one spot, directly on top of one another, in an area where the ghost will eventually have to walk. Try to make sure it's not next to a door.

Step 3: When the ghost steps through the salt, immediately take 6 (for tier 1 salt) or 9 (for T2/3 salt) photos close up of the "single" pile. Each photo counts for a different use of the salt.

Step 4: Either get a bone photo, or ghost photo if that's your objective, and you're done.

I imagine this'll get changed/patched out at some point, but right now this is the fastest way to get your journal filled out with 3-star photos.

Unless it's a Wraith, in which case, use your firelights. Each time it blows them out, just take a photo right away to fill your journal with those instead.
