you might have missed the light switch for the second/end room of this area, in which the ghost will be frequently throwing items around.

As you approach the end room, the light switch for it is located within the right hand side of the door frame. (I was looking on the walls for ages and couldn't find it. Doh!)

Until I flipped this switch, I just kept getting a red light response, meaning the ghost heard me but didn't respond. As soon as I turned this light off, it worked!

Dev note: a small QOL suggestion would be to move this light switch to next to the exit door of that end room. Would be much easier to find there. ;)

yea looked for that switch for a while as well
