Source: Slow game development
you realize you're in the very forum which is the spoken source correct?
i get why too, because the OPs post is asking when, and they replied "at least 3 months later... sad."
im pretty sure the reply was referring to the fact that it is at least 3 months later, and still no update, which is sad.
but of course they could also just mean in three months at least, and that is also stated in these forums as the developers have stated they wanted to stick to a schedule of 6 month intervals as less is more.
it could be taken literally either way, and the source would still be here in the forums lol.
It's a guesstimate based on recent "updates". You don't need a source.
No he gave a minimum amount of time to their assumption, probably based on how slow everything here is. Unless you're telling us that an update is in fact coming sooner than 3 months time then your existence here is unhelpful.
- yes, the very fact that there hasn't been an update since April 10th is NOT good enough for anyone tbh. Maps are boring at this point and nothing is challenging anymore. Roadmap isn't exactly that informative either as there is no definite release dates for new maps.
As for the new map - we were giving some transparency in the form of Development Preview #17; at the very bottom, after they talked about Point hope about to entering testing soon, they did add a foot-note for transparency... which states that the testing process is not a quick one.
This does make sense for a couple reasons - first off, they aren't doing asset flips anymore... and were making them from scratch. This likely includes coding in unique collision box data for each new prop, wall, barrier, etc, and leads into the second reason it might be taking as long as it has... which would be that these custom collision hit-boxes had something go wrong during testing, and they need to fix them.
To add a third reason - they may also be caring a lot more about the maps overall performance going forward, and want to ensure there is no performance issues... much like Maple Lodge Campsite had prior to it's rework, or during the early days of Sunny Meadows.
There's also the possibility that the new map is done right now, but they are holding the release back so that they release it alongside both the Ascension Adjustments update as well as the other minor update to replace the voice chat model. This is obviously me just speculating though at this point. It'll be ready when it's ready as far as I'm concerned... got other games I can play in the meantime.
