SO YEAH - safe to say that last year had nothing go to plan... hell, some of it was legitimately impossible to predict happening in the first place. It's probably the primary reason why the current iteration of the roadmap does not have any time predictions... to which that was probably the right call.
This is actually why, per the developer end terms/rules of Early Access, Developers are Not Supposed To Give Dates For ANYTHING. Because you never know what will go wrong, whether plans will fall through, whether it will be harder than you thought, etc.
Take ANY roadmap, EA or not, with a teaspoon of salt and understanding.
And name whatever you want, chances are high that the devs have already thought about it. ChatGPT isn't as good in creative work as you might think and if you really need to resort to it for creative work, then it's probably better to stop working in a creative job altogether.
Project management is tough and I don't envy DK. I think his previous optimism continues to bite him in the ass and I'm glad they stopped promising timelines.
its literally just changing 3D models though
not even that...
Totally agree, I used to play it a lot back in the day.
As for now, things are not moving at all and if we got new updates, well.. there are nothing major, small bug fixes and nerfing items or hiding spots or ban people.
If they allowed modding, the game will get much further.
The POINT here is so simple but true unfortunately,, devs are Lazy to work on the game.
You have everything in your hand but nah Ex: New map being worked on for years, one map only ! :p
Note:
If not for LC, you wouldn't see the last updates in short time.
You still need to make those models, ensure they work with the animations andimplement them. Add to this that their intent was to give players greater customization... so no, it's not just "changing the 3D models".
At this point you could easily be a millionaire, if you can pump out 3D models so fast, that you can phrase it like it only takes a few days per model.
i feel like there's nothing they can add to satisfy you. I wouldn't be surprised, that if they release 3 maps in the next month, that some people come around and ask, why it weren't 5, why the ghost models still look the same and why the animations are still not reworked.
This is a battle the devs can't win anyway, so it's best for them to concentrate onto the actually important things: Quality.
People need to get this idea that it's solely an understaffing issue out of their heads.
100 hours out of an EA game is impressive on its own.
its a matter of 4 days or 5 for a small company to get a decent person. its like that in real life. when we are stuck on internet we dont realize that its fast but it is. it may cost some time but over the time its compensated by the quality of the product: quality thats not seen in phasmo.
At no point are the Devs required to bring more people on board. It's their project and their vision, and frankly, they're allowed to go at whatever speed they desire. If you disagree with how they run things, you're welcome to stop playing and go create your own project with your own visions and ideas.
This is a great example of someone who needs to stop buying EA products. Stick with AAA if you want rushed and broken content. They'll be MORE then happy to take your money and leave you ready to consooome their next rushed project.
