Might be a better idea than trying to edit game files.
Assuming it's true for a moment, might be time to get better friends or at least not entrust your PC to their cheating arses. Even I learnt that lesson when I woke up one day after being at a lan party to find a VAC ban on my account many years ago.
Fr though he was over at my house and we were messing with some games then I let him go on with modding random games then he told me to come look on what he did on phas and showed the money and the high level gear. He tried to load a game to see how different the gear works then the game just crashed
Sounds like you keep wonderful company if your "friend" thinks it's okay to potentially get you banned from a game.
Modding (including cheating) is literally the act of tampering with files. Installing was never really necessary except for mod loaders.
