Might be a better idea than trying to edit game files.

Not just 'might', But 'Absolutely is'. Do NOT edit your save file, or any files of the game, at all. Just reset via the option in the menus.

Unless you have a save file from before he was messing with it, you basically have to reset everything and start all over again.

But seriously, as the others have said, reset through the game. Not by messing with your files manually. Also remove the cheats that “your friend” put on your pc.
Right?
Assuming it's true for a moment, might be time to get better friends or at least not entrust your PC to their cheating arses. Even I learnt that lesson when I woke up one day after being at a lan party to find a VAC ban on my account many years ago.

Fr though he was over at my house and we were messing with some games then I let him go on with modding random games then he told me to come look on what he did on phas and showed the money and the high level gear. He tried to load a game to see how different the gear works then the game just crashed

Sounds like you keep wonderful company if your "friend" thinks it's okay to potentially get you banned from a game.

Modding (including cheating) is literally the act of tampering with files. Installing was never really necessary except for mod loaders.

What do I do if I want to quit something ( for example the apocalypse challenge card) because a friend did the challenge for me and I want to do it my own
