Application not responding and constant crashes
This game worked fine but since a couple of days it's performance has been less than ♥♥♥♥. When I launch the game during the initialising page the game will load for like 0.1second and then freeze with sound still on and then there is a 50/50 chance that it will either crash or unfreeze. In the task manager it says the app is not responding. My specs are well within and above the reqs and I even lowered the settings a bit. When the game does work it works perfectly BUT sometimes it will just randomly crash and also make all other active apps unresponsive (kills my discord etc.). Verifying files does nothing and so did the reinstallation of the game on the other drive which is an ssd. I also have no overlay apps running in the background. I have no idea what to do to fix it since my friends game seems to be working fine with some random fps drops. Any other ideas on how to deal with this?

check your task manager and see what component is maxed out.

So for anybody looking for a bit of a fix, I think I might have found smth....
1. Go into the game directory
2. Right click on phasmo.exe and go into properties and then into the compatibility tab
3. Check "disable fullscreen optimizations" and "run this program as administrator"
4. Also go into "change high dpi settings" and check the box that says "Override high dpi scaling behaviour(...)" and have the box below it say "application".

Note that this fix worked wonders for me. It shortened the loading time and I had my game bug out only once during the session....but it comes at a price of losing the in game steam overlay. But I think I might have found an alternative if you want to keep it which is to not check the run as admin box in the phasmo properties and simply launch steam as administrator... To do this you go into steam files and go into steam.exe properties and check run as admin. This will make steam run as admin and will display a "runnin steam in compatibility mode" which you can just ignore or check not to display every time you run it.

Also note that this all worked but I've also done all the fixes stated above while voicing my issue and had my texture resolution put to half (still looks good) so just maybe it all kinda works together but let me know if it actually did something for you.
