Is there a bug with footprints? used to get them all the time with salt, but now trying to do the challenge and since the last major update we hardly ever see footprints when the ghosts walk through salt.

Only ghosts with UV evidence will leave footprints now. Wraiths will also never disturb salt.

This. Pre 0.9.0.0, Any non-wraith ghost could leave footprints as they weren't an evidence type, So you had 23/24 ghosts capable of leaving footprints, or very nearly a 100% chance- Only Wraith couldn't leave footprints as it was incapable of stepping in the salt to begin with.

Post 0.9.0.0, Only UV ghosts can leave footprints as they are now considered an evidence type, and Wraith still won't step in the salt, so only 10/24 ghosts can leave footprints, So you'll be getting footprints about 40% of the time at best... and that's assuming you don't have a spree of bad luck.

Everything above is correct, and in my honest opinion... it was a good change as it not only removed confusion for newer players, but allowed one to get the evidence in rooms where fingerprints would be a bit harder to come across, such as the basement of Tanglewood Drive (the first map)

I mean, I think every single one of us had that "I got prints" moment where we thought footprints counted as evidence pre-0.9.0 XD It's one of those rites of passage that we all screwed up at some point.

With all of the above in mind, use the salt strategically. Especially when you're going for the weekly challenge. If you dump all your salt at once it will be easy to miss out on some of the footprint photo opportunities.
