Next new map (lighthouse) should be coming sometime in 2024 but there are higher priority items being released before that.
Edit: thanks for the steam points! Didn’t know the truth (as I’ve read at least) was worthy of a jester award.
The community wanted new maps and reworked maps.
Ultimately reworked maps is the option that had a higher % than the other.
Obviously new maps are definitely welcomed and the new maps we got with Sunny Meadows and the new Maple Lodge definitely looks promising for the future, but it is good to see, that they still improve the gameplay and doesn't just make it as shiny as possible over everything else.
Maple Lodge isn't new.
The changes made are so big, that it pretty much qualifies as a new map by all means, especially given how different it plays compared to the old one.
Otherwise, if we assume, that being 20 % like another map is enough to call it "the same", then we should also consider Tanglewood, Ridgeview, Edgefield and Willow as the same map released 4 times, as well as bleasdale and Grafton, yet i've never seen someone complaining about these being too similar to each other so far.
They probably had plans to release a new map as part of Ascension (most likely part 2 as that has a redacted bullet point that could've realistically been anything), but things have not been exactly smooth and they are significantly behind their estimated release windows for their recent roadmap (although it should be noted that one of the reasons for that was something they had no control over... that being that a fire forced them to relocate their development studio)
So yeah... new maps, reworked maps... don't really matter too much right now; their plans are pretty much set - get the game console ready ASAP so that they can get back on track with the rest of the Ascension update chunks.
What a solution mate, really. Maybe next time, try to leave the van before picking the ghost and go back to the lobby, only then you would probably be feeling the same as a person, me and others.
