The community voted to have the devs focus their time on reworking current maps that are still using the same reused/generic assets instead of creating brand new maps using those same stock assets. So that is what the devs are doing.

Next new map (lighthouse) should be coming sometime in 2024 but there are higher priority items being released before that.

Edit: thanks for the steam points! Didn’t know the truth (as I’ve read at least) was worthy of a jester award.

The community wanted new maps and reworked maps.

Ultimately reworked maps is the option that had a higher % than the other.

Correct. So that’s what is being prioritized.

How many did you made so far? I mean if it's that easy, then you should've no problem finding a job as a map designer

Obviously new maps are definitely welcomed and the new maps we got with Sunny Meadows and the new Maple Lodge definitely looks promising for the future, but it is good to see, that they still improve the gameplay and doesn't just make it as shiny as possible over everything else.

Maple Lodge isn't new.

“New Maple Lodge” easily implies that it is a rework. Even then, it retained like 25% of the old version (my opinion) so it is mostly “new”.

The changes made are so big, that it pretty much qualifies as a new map by all means, especially given how different it plays compared to the old one.

Otherwise, if we assume, that being 20 % like another map is enough to call it "the same", then we should also consider Tanglewood, Ridgeview, Edgefield and Willow as the same map released 4 times, as well as bleasdale and Grafton, yet i've never seen someone complaining about these being too similar to each other so far.

Throwing my own two cents in - new maps will be taking a lot more time overall now in general, with their design direction to stop using cookie cutter assets and instead design them all in house. Good assets, like any art piece, should not ever be really rushed out. They'd also have to make sure that their ghost entity behaves correctly (are these props blocking line of sight, can/should the ghost throw this, can the ghost get out of bounds, etc.)

They probably had plans to release a new map as part of Ascension (most likely part 2 as that has a redacted bullet point that could've realistically been anything), but things have not been exactly smooth and they are significantly behind their estimated release windows for their recent roadmap (although it should be noted that one of the reasons for that was something they had no control over... that being that a fire forced them to relocate their development studio)

So yeah... new maps, reworked maps... don't really matter too much right now; their plans are pretty much set - get the game console ready ASAP so that they can get back on track with the rest of the Ascension update chunks.

Why don't you make your own game and let us know how hard it is

I have found a solution to the new maps issue: open Sims then create as many houses/maps as you want. Download the ghost hunting DLC and make all of them haunted. Play in 1st person mode and that should solve any inadequacies you may be feeling as a person.

What a solution mate, really. Maybe next time, try to leave the van before picking the ghost and go back to the lobby, only then you would probably be feeling the same as a person, me and others.
