So you need to describe the situations a littlebit more, preferably by checking the distances with the range while playing the crucifix and it would also help to explain, where the ghost hunted from (like not just the room, but where in relation to the crucifix).
Like I said, we made sure the room was covered. At least 3 of the instances I watched it begin the hunt within 2 feet of a crucifix. I always check the circle when placing using F key.
Other than that it's possible the ghost initiated a hunt while roaming, so it actually started outside the room. If you're 100% saying you saw exactly where it appeared when the hunt began, and it was in the crucifix's range, then that definitely sounds like the game isn't working as intended.
However more often than not in these situations something else has occurred which the player hasn't noticed having an affect, and everything is actually working as intended.
More likely than not the ghost has just wandered out of the ghost room and started a hunt else where.
How do you know exactly? That's always what this comes down to. Having something occur which challenges an understanding of the game often results in people thinking the game is broken. More often than not the answer is because of a misunderstanding of the parameters. We've all been there, frustrated with the game not operating as intended just to discover, or potentially discover, an alternative game-working-as-intended answer.
My crucifixes work all the time, as intended, to the point where I seemingly only get hunted if I want to be. I wish you all the best figuring this out.
Most of the time mine do as well. I seen the ghost spawn, assumed it was an event because it spawned next to a crucifix and proceeded to die.
Skill issue.
"And since it works in my game there is no possibility of it being broken or jank in other games."
It appears that sometimes the ghost just doesnt feel like following the games rules.
I had the ghost flat out ignore a crucifix every now and then.
It is definetly some early access jank being hard at work here but at least for me everything works as intended most of the time.. well apart from sound issues atm.
