Progression reset.

I know nobody cares, but imma say it anyway:

Forcing me to grind levels to unlock the tools I used to play with years ago instantly evaporated any will I had to play this game further. (not gonna leave a bad review tho cus I want this game to do well)

Picked it back up on a whim because my buddy was around to play. Kinda liked the new system, but I will NOT be farming exp to get back to where I already was. Played one level with these new "starter" junkyard-level tools and was frustrated enough to not even bother playing another level.

What's the damn point of giving your legacy players 1 level of prestige, when prestige doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do anything? May as well put a gold sticker next to our name on the chalkboard for all the good it does.

The main reason for the Prestige was so that experienced players would start with certain non-gear unlocks, specifically things like the harder difficulties and whatnot. That said, if you're not enjoying it, then that's certainly something that makes sense for you from a subjective standpoint...you should play what you enjoy. If you do have friends who play more and have things unlocked, you do get the option of running with them to have the upgraded gear, and it doesn't really take too long to get to the T2 gear that you're used to, more or less.

That said, it's ok for it not to be for you either. Play what you like, and maybe you feel differently some other time and try it again to see if your opinion changes. Not like we don't have options here on Steam, after all! Good luck out there.

The game HAS changed from a 'basically flat' progression (quickly gain everything and then keep forever) to a game where the expectation is that you will go through the progression over and over.

And while they did say that they were unhappy with the old progression and wanted to change it for like.. a year or more.. we still weren't sure of how this was going to change, or if the equipment we had was the baseline starting, etc.

Now that I've played through prestiging once, I can get a feel for what they are going for in the long run for the experience. But yeah, the shock from the old to this new system, and the junk equipment (other than a couple like Thermo and Glowsticks, which I still use) can be off putting to have to grind through (it will feel like a grind if you don't care for it).

If you're playing with a friend, the solution is to have them host + supply gear while you play together. (You did say that you picked it up to play co-op, after all.)
Get yourself to lv90 doing the same thing you were already doing, and then don't opt to Prestige yourself.

That way, you can use the more potent tier3 gear without having to worry about the issues you seem to be having.

After all, when someone else is supplying equipment your level has zero effect on gameplay.

P.S. - I get that you're not hyped about that change, but we've known about it for at least 6 months* - and once that change came though yeah it was a bit difficult at first until we unlocked the (normal) tier2 items, many of which you have by lv35ish, but once you're past that initial hurdle it's really not that bad.

Because Maps and difficulty settings are unlocked throughout the leveling process at prestige 0 and every prestige above that keeps all maps/difficulties. To allow older people to still access everything from the start, we start at Prestige 1.

And yeah, you got it, prestige isn't worth anything. That's why you don't need to prestige, if you don't want to.

I prestiged because I wanted the new badge looks, etc, heh. They look neat, and there's not much else to repeatedly playing anyways, otherwise (no overall lore unlocked or end game goals).

But man does it hurt to not have the night vision anymore.. oof. My wife and I duo, and I'm a little bit ahead so I could prestige and she could bring the advanced equipment... however, she hadn't hit 82 yet for the goggles. That's such a game changer in playstyle, I had to get used to playing slow and using lights or quick and blind again...

If there's was ONE unlock I'd love to get with a high level prestige, it would be to "keep ONE advanced item to next prestige", and I'd grab that night vision, haha.

My complaint about this game is that my progress reset back to the beginning when i made a new one. i didn't play the game for 2 weeks suddenly a progress reset occured

Use the modmail on the discord, they may be able to help recover your save file to fix that.
