NO SERIOUSLY - read them; some items are now labeled as "consumable" - these will be lost at the end of the investigation, win OR lose. You can see which is labeled as such in their respective upgrade screen (some tier upgrades make an item remove it's consumable tag... such as the lighter)
They have also given us the Auto-Buy function - apply it on the ALL loadout (your preferred loadout will suffice, but the ALL loadout ensures a full truck worth of gear is always available), and it will manage the restocking of consumables for you (as a bonus, it will also replace any equipment lost by a death... and happens before Auto-Add if you also use that)
I once tried to explain this exact concept and this same guy was pretty rude about it (shouldn't be surprising given his reaction here). In my game at least, I don't need to re-purchase consumables unless I actually use them (or die obviously). No information I can find online suggests you lose consumables unless you use them (or die), and he implies otherwise. Ah well.
If somebody dies then the items they brought, whether left in the trailer or used in the game, will be gone.
If you use a consumable, (salt, candles, sanity meds, etc) and use them, then they are gone and will need to be replaced.
Consumables that are left in the trailer are returned to your inventory after the match as long as nobody dies. So, if you are losing items that were not used and nobody died then report the bug on the discord.
EDIT: Read my next post in this thread before replying to this please -_-
Nah. I just tested this this evening. I was 99% sure, but decided to run a few tests. Everything I wrote is accurate.
Not "If you take the item with you to a contract", but "If you USE an item during a contract". I think that's plenty clearly implied that "USE" is required for a consumable to be consumed.
EDIT: findings made.... huh, today I learned. Okay my mistake
In your own source it says "This means that if you use an item...". Use it. You've peddled this misinformation in multiple places now. You're far too active here to be doing that. At least make adjustments the first time someone tries to correct you.
They are definitely not consumables. You can also leave them anywhere you want within the map and, so long as you don't die, they're returned to your inventory. You have a decent amount of game-time so I'm not sure if this is obvious, and I don't mean to be insulting, but all bases need to be covered; you do have to load them in again each investigation (unless you're using auto-add). Although it's not clear (lot of fair criticism on the shop system), there is an 'inventory' indicator in the shop screen which shows you items you own, but aren't currently loaded on the truck (that's a separate icon). If you load up the next investigation, after succeeding the prior, you won't have anything outside the starting items if you don't have auto-add enabled. All the items you've previously bought, and only brought with you on survived investigations, should be able to be added back to the truck at no additional cost (they're in your 'inventory').
If you're literally buying all these items each time then that's bad news.
Kindly going to ask to not be dogpiled for making an honest mistake here, thanks. Now then, moving on
Are you trolling? You say it's false, post the patch note, and then failed to read what it said. It very clearly said -
"This means that if you use an item during a contract"
You have to be trolling.
