It's an unfortunate reality of the game's coding for now, but can be mitigated by a certain amount by trying to snap photos of certain things early on (like the aforementioned salt pics) so that the photo only has one possible thing to choose from.
Edit: Also, the appearance of the ghost during a photo doesn't matter - it can be the translucent shadow, or the full on farmer blocking the TV like a jerk. Some events are harder to get photos of than others, but you start to learn the long ones. If an event ends just before the photo, that will give you an interaction as well (not to be confused with the Phantom vanishing when a photo is taken, which should still give a 3-star photo for the ghost)
Thanks for clarifying. I think I just got unlucky then.
Funnily enough, and kind of what started me believing ghost events might not count towards ghost photos (for whatever reason), is I've captured a photo of a Phantom where it didn't disappear. It's shadowy figure still clearly visible in the photo, which was tagged as 'interaction', after a ghost event. Interesting that the Phantom's 'ability' to disappear is tied to a photo registering as a 'ghost photo', and not simply the Phantom's model not showing up in all photos. But alas another case of getting a moved door in-frame or something.
Still some things to iron out before 1.0 I guess.
