A perfectly acceptable meme by the devs - thermostat rebalance
In my opinion I think it's pretty clear that the thermometer tiers need re-balancing as its widely accepted tier 1 is the best

However I think it'd be a fun meme by the devs if they were to make the current tier 1 therm the tier 3 therm and move the tier3 'gun therm' down to tier 2 and tier 2 gun therm to tier 1.

Otherwise the devs will definitely overstep the nerf on tier 1 and make it flat-out lie to you about what the actual temperature is, which makes equally less logical sense than just swapping tier 1 thermostat to tier 3.

All they have to do is add a timer to when the tier 1 starts reacting to the temperature in a room. Like 10 seconds or something.
The only OP thing about it is how fast it reacts to the temperature, basically instantly starts moving down.

That way it'd still be useful as a "leave it and check it later" thermo, but it'd be way less OP in finding the ghost room fast.

That's a good solution. But the other portion of advantage it has is displaying 'true' temperature of below freezing way before a tier 3 will. tier 2 and 3 give an estimate that is off by up to 2 degrees upward if I recall. In the fresh start of a round I find the ghost room can commonly come to around 10 degrees while the rest of the house is 15. So you have a pretty small range to work with in terms of determining a comparatively 'cold room'. Basically, there's not as much reliability in my experience with tier 3 compared to tier 1.

Finding the ghost room is preferable with a tier 3 emf instead of temps imo. And the temperature takes a while to drop below freezing anyway, so I probably wouldn't take a tier 3 therm even if the tier 1 adjusted to temps over 20 seconds or something. you can always pick it up and see exactly the temperature it is, granted you left it in the ghost room for a while (same application as the tier 3).

I personally think tier 3 is a lot better than tier 1. Who has time to wait around for tier 1 to actually get to freezing?

unless you're speedrunning, there's not really that much of a pressure to get freezing fast. That's why people rather prefer passive waiting time on T1 than active waiting time and low precision on T2/3. Most people run back to the van like 2-3 times anyway, at which point it's not that far away from the freezing point anyway.

I feel like the t3 should take more than one sample for each analysis (Maybe even be able to have a chance to predict freezing) the t2 should update by itself at the same rate of just holding it as you do now, while also maybe beeping at certain temps, once at 7°C and another at freezing with LED lights too for hard of hearing people.

Maybe too much work to implement but I would change T2 and T3 to be proper thermal cameras:
T2 is lower res, shows only exact temperature of what it is pointed at but renders everything in red to blue heat map. Pointing it at items the ghost has interacted with gives a faster confirmation of freezing. (Could render it as appearing as a cold hand outline on a mug it threw)
T3 shows temp of what it is pointed at but also shows the maximum and minimum temperature of everything that is currently within its view for even faster identification. Also shows the Hantu cold breath without a hunt and can change temperature spectrum color to black and white.

I feel like you shouldn't have to right click constantly. If they made it self updating like tier 1 does but just gives you a digital display of the temp would be an acceptable fix. We have digital thermometers in our own home with a probe that just constantly monitor ambient temperature. Or even make tier 2 like that and for tier 3 you get a probe you can set up that sends the temperature to a screen in the van or something. idk. Tier 2 and 3 are definitely less accurate than tier 1 though at the moment.

I've had countless cases of Tier 1 showing freezing and when I check with Tier 3 it takes 20+ tries for it to show freezing. Tier 1 is objectively better. There's no RNG involved, it's always accurate.

My phone LED is also brighter than ALL the flashlights in the game. It's a slightly off topic, but most the items in this game are vastly inferior to real life. Tier 1 flashlight should be as bright as Tier 3 and Tier 2/3 should be MUCH brighter. I have a $5 LED flashlight from Walgreens that could fill up a school gymnasium with light for 10 hours. That should be tier 3. And I agree with you on the thermo

Honestly I 100% am down with tier 3 being upgraded to a thermal imager. Instead of making tier 1 worse just make tier 3 actually worth using
