Alternatively you could set the game language to french and the Voice Recognition to text. If you then use the action button with the spirit box, Ouija Board or Monkey Paw the game will show you all possible sentences, which you can try to remember.
Also for the monkey paw the sentences are scattered around Sunny Meadows, written down onto cards. Once picked up they'll appear within the journal on the page of the monkey paw.
And you can't ask the ghost to do something specific. Talking to it will slowly rise it's activity, but you've to wait for RNG to get the stuff you need.
As for the tutorial it isn't really helpful in that regard. It's not announced yet, but i wouldn't be surprised, if it get reworked in the 2nd or 3rd progression update.
Also note that some French translations, for the recognition, aren't correct; so take a look at the recognized sentences in a guide to make sure you are using the right wording.

They didn't made the voice recognition, they just included them. And VOSK in particular is just an open source project, so it highly depends on who works on it, Windows however shoudn't be that, given that it has tons of money and french being quite important on the market.
