All ghosts have their known evidence regardless of difficulty settings with the exception of not showing one, two or all of that evidence.
However, the mimic will also have a ghost orb - always, no matter what, even on "no evidence" runs. BUT, that ghost orb does not count as evidence, it exists only to confuse the players.
So whatever you had, it was not a mimic - or not EMF 5.
Since people struggle with the new T1 EMF... the needle touching the 5 does not indicate EMF 5, it needs to go beyond that into the red zone - then it is confirmed EMF 5.
