Tier 2 thermometer worse than tier 1?
We located ghost room, checked every corner for temperature for 10 minutes or so and it was +4, but in the end it had to be sub-zero temperatures. Is tier 2 thermometer broken?

Look anything double digits like 12, 16, 18 degrees is not the ghost room. Anything single digits like 4, 6, 8 is most likely the ghost room. Anything under 10 is going to point you in the right direction.

I understand, but at the end of the mission it turns out that this ghost was supposed to have a negative temperature, and it never went below zero the whole time. We actually spent 10 minutes checking the temperature across the room and it never went down. When we played with tier 1 we would just put a thermometer on a nightstand or table in the ghost's room and get an accurate temperature reading when we returned, but this tier 2 thermometer never gave a temperature below 4.
The houses have heaters, When the breaker is on, the central heating is on too- Meaning the whole house is actively warming up, while only the room the invisible entity is in is going down.

If the ghost roams through enough rooms, the pace at which it cools rooms can get out-weighed by the map wide warming; IE, If the ghost cools at 0.29c/min and the heater warms by 0.1c/min, when the ghost is roaming through 3+ rooms, it literally isn't spending enough time in any single room to cool it down to freezing.

I explain it a lot more thoroughly in this thread here, There's a bit of repeated information, but these posts here all cover this subject

The TL;DR of which is basically, if you suspect freezing but the ghost just isn't giving it to you, or you've noticed significant ghost activity in multiple rooms, Turn the breaker off for a little while to let temps fall without the heater sabotaging the cooling process.

Thanks, I didn't realize the game's temperature mechanics were so complicated, we'll give it a try
