If you're trying to prevent hunts, use a Crucifix.
If you smudged them during the hunt, they will only get blinded, but it won't affect timer on next hunt.
This is blatantly false. Smudge sticks do stop hunts. It's literally the Spirit's weakness - he can't hint for twice as long as other ghosts after being smudged.
What most likely happened is OP just "missed" the ghost. The range on smudges is really low
No it doesn't.
Smudging a ghost when it doesn't hunt delays the next hunt. Smudging ghost during a hunt just blinds it. Smudges do two different things depending ghost state.
So you smudge ghost when it was hunting, it got blind. After the hunt, it's standard 25 second timer started and it hunted again at the end of it. Everything is working as it should be.
If you want to delay the hunt, you need to light a smudge when the ghost isn't hunting.
Correct, I was mistaken and mixing up phasmophobia mechanics with another game.
