you could ask why they have prestige systems in deep rock galactic and then be shown a plethora of examples why it should be a thing in ALL co-op games.
example: if my teammate is prestige and has a mission that's even harder than non prestige missions, and doing the mission will net us rewards we wouldn't get from a non prestige mission and also has challenges not present in regular missions, yes it is worth prestiging.
it's just not in the game yet that we know of, (maybe there's something hidden they haven't told us about?) but to say it's not something the game needs is a broad statement made from a point of ignorance, (no offense, i too am ignorant at times, the word shouldn't be taken as a dis,)
it's early access, the game is nowhere near complete so making a judgement like you did is in fact "ignorant" because you're basically saying "all we do is scooby do" when the reality is that what we can do hasn't even been majorly added to the game yet.
as i pointed out, there can be numerous things they can do with the prestige system.
from unlocking new types of ghost hunts to new game modes that are only available to prestige players.
we don't know what they have in store for us, and the current game is in no way indicative of what's to come.
Sadly Deep Rock Galactic handles it's prestige different than Phasmo - the Dwarves never lose access to their leveled equipment, while we do have to repurchase upgrades and items here... so having some gameplay attached to it is not ideal. Still, they could do something later down the line that would make prestige worth it... but nobody to my knowledge is close to level 100 yet in this, so time will tell if it's reasonable to lock gameplay behind prestige 1.
if you say the devs, i've got a roadmap they scrapped just for you.
the only "official release" they have talked about is when it drops on console, which it will still be considered early access after it does so no, that's not the official game release if that's what you were talking about.
from what i've seen, there is no date yet for official release and they haven't actually stated it's close to full release whatsoever.
so idk where you got your info but it's flawed.
i wager we have another year at least before the game leaves EA.
within that time we will probably see two major updates.
i hate prestige mechanics- why willingly restart a grind you already finished? imo a game is fun AFTER everything is unlocked and you can just play for fun rather than for the grind
it's grind mechanics.
other games with prestige systems don't reset your stuff like this one has.
there are a few games from history that did that, but honestly they've become forgotten for good reasons.
mainly prestige is just a rank above max rank that allows you to rank up again, losing gear and things like that is only put into the games to make it more grindy and of all things that's what we should be upset about.
no reason to prestige in this game if you're just going to lose everything, especially when there isn't a point to it yet.
like i said, they could be adding things like increased difficulty or special hunts for prestige, but until then it's not really worth losing all your stuff.
Even if they will add a reason to do this reset, it should be an additive reason, to unlock new stuffs, not to going back again from zero and bloat a monotone sense of progression.
Not very good game design choice i think.
2. it laying the foundation for the furture. maybe they tie in more rewards.
3.it for those long time fans who have 5k hours into the game something to do.
4. they have a reason. this dev team legit cares about their product unlike SOOOOOOOO many others
