Unity crash on startup (not wemod) - Solved
Edit2: I found a solution (for me at least) In the bottom of my post (Thanks to Valliac), I'm leaving my previous information in here so that others might find keywords for this issue and hopefully this also works for them!

To start off before half of you start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the pinned message.

Wemod was not running - It crashed
Wemod was running - It crashed (obviously)
Wemod was killed in taskmanager - It crashed
Wemod was uninstalled - It crashed

Computer was restarted with wemod uninstalled, paired with updated drivers - It crashed.

Something else is interfering with my game and I cannot figure out what or why. It's a shame, I looked forward to this update, and now I can't even play it.

inb4 comments about CE or other injectors, I don't have any installed. This is a somewhat fresh install of Windows 11. I used wemod for some EA-singleplayer games on steam. Cheating in multiplayer games are for peasants.

My specs are listed on my profile if that's helpful to anyone.

I will keep looking for solutions to make my game able to start, and will update this thread accordingly.

Edit: Valliac gave me the idea to try something else, which actually did work. Because they gave me an idea that something might be wrong somewhere. I browsed local files and just deleted the entire folder. Thinking that there might be some file, somewhere that is unhappy or didn't get updated/removed in the update.

Thank you Valliac, you saved me a lot of swearing. :)

Solution for me at least:

1. Head towards <InstallPath>Steam\steamapps\common
2. Select Phasmophobia
3. Delete the entire folder
4. Verify files in steam
5. Let it make a fresh install

See if you can verify game files via steam. I've only had one hard Unity crash since the update. Maybe something got snagged when it was patching. Unity can be a wild beast when it doesn't wanna work right.

Just tried it after your suggestion, hoping it would be that easy. Unfortunately that was not the issue.

I personally tried everything, and changed the driver, and reinstalled the game several times, and checked the integrity of the files, cleaned the registry, even deleted the saves, not long ago I just reset Windows to factory settings, and then an update came out, and I really want to play, I even I don't understand what's going on and why this is happening.

This thread goes into some possible fixes for Unity crashes, including reinstalling GPU drivers, checking NVIDIA settings (if you have an nvidia card), etc.

I have a card from AMD Vega 3, and how to check for an update on the card, I xs, it’s true that I only looked for updates through the device manager and it says to me that a newer version is already installed

I took your suggestion into another level and tried this instead;

1. Head towards <InstallPath>Steam\steamapps\common
2. Select Phasmophobia
3. Delete the entire folder
4. Verify files in steam
5. Let it make a fresh install

And it worked. :)

Thanks for preventing me into making this into something unnecessarily complicated. <3

Unfortunately, I did the same, in the end it was without any errors, the game loaded for a very long time, but I didn’t get to the main menu, after which I decided to restart, as a result, after the restart, my screen stopped showing the picture :), I already don’t know what to do here, before this game worked with a bang, but now I can’t even enter it ((

i just started having this issue. game was working just fine, then all of a sudden, unity crash happens everytime i load into a match. i played last night for about an hour with no problems. i tried this, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting pc, updated all drivers, ive tried everything. granted, im on a low end laptop, but with all the settings at the minimum in game, it ran just fine for many hours. i took a long break from the game, and now that i want to get back into it, i cant even play the game :(

I found out that you only have to delete everything in the Phasmophobia folder except for the Phasmophobia_Data folder. Then do a check of the data and it works.

Reinstalling Windows helped me, as I tried all the methods above and nothing helped, maybe it will help you 😉

I tried new drivers and the file method, same problem.
