Seriously, they got an update road map even... we got to view it in one of those previews I just mentioned, but their Trello page (which has a link right at the start of the "Join our Discord:" pinned thread) also has it viewable in their backlog section.
TL:DR - Progression Overhaul next month + one redacted feature (which could literally be ANYTHING), console versions drop the month after.
Later on, in Q3... new evidence (and ANOTHER redacted feature), new models/animations + player customization in Q4, and then finally in 2024 we will get horror 2.0 at long last... hallucinations and all.
Cheers for the info. I did see the console port but maybe they should have gone into finishing the game first? Just my opinion mind you.
Does suck that we have to wait a year + for anything actually worth coming back to, unless as you said the [Redacted] features are worth playing again for.
They'll probably be a new ghost type but no model update or anything.
Me personally, the ghost types don't do anything for the game. Other than the really aggressive ones, and no. I don't have time to do stuff like that.
And overall i don't mind technical updates, as i'm patient enough to see the bigger picture and i'm able to play other games, while waiting for content updates. It's not like there's only the option to either play it daily or never touch it again, but something inbetween those 2.
And it was btw because of the streamers, that this game is even in the position to get all the upgrades the past 2 years and looking forward to tons of content upgrades in the next few updates. Without them, it would've still been an unpolished small game with 12 ghosts and 8 maps and no intention to create original assets by now.
Then it might be time to play Insanity or 0-Evidence, because then you've to interact more with those ghosts other than just making sure to not get surprised by a hunt.
Also, high five.

Content drought is definitely the word for it. There have been other "new" things added to the game like weather, truck overhaul, new homebase, updated journal etc but these aren't what I would consider interesting updates or "reasons to play the game", tbh I don't even consider anything from Feb 27 update as interesting but it was at least new content.
I did take a re-read through the April fools patch notes since I was passing by, I knew that they mentioned the lighthouse map in these notes but I forgot that they also mentioned an Amusement park and a Church, maybe we might see one of those maps as well this update.
Challenge mode and custom difficulty add artificial difficulty, no new content.
Give us new maps, new models, more interactive maps and scares, more interactions, workshop support.
Custom I'd say adds a fair bit of content as you can "choose your own adventure".... want to play without evidence, go for it... want to make yourself super fast but have no way to hide, that's an option too. Challenge mode meanwhile is a nice diversion that has had actual variance in difficulty week by week... although I'll admit, maybe they do need a difficulty rating system to let people know "oh this is not gonna be fun if you're not that experienced"
Horror 2.0 will come eventually for most of the horror aspects, including the ghost models... maps will be sprinkled in as development continues (one might even be cooking without us knowing about it), and they have firmly denied any hope of workshop support (which is fair enough, given Kinetics stances on both modifying their game, and also wanting their players to have an equally enjoyable experience).
Love this game but my friends no longer care to play it with how the updates have been focused. More difficulties doesn't make the gameplay stay fresh.
THIS.
Game difficulty is everything. But in a game like this it really doesn't add anything to the actual game. Call it what normies call it "skill issue" or whatever, but it's practically none existent and doesn't effect the game. Makes it just more tedious if anything.
The "die hard" fans really want people to like the game as is. I get that. But there's very little to actually enjoy anymore.
I've played since nearly the release date and i don't fanboy like they do. Twitch streamers definitely over-hyped their streams for way to long when the game was done and dusted after a month.
But that's just the new generation of gamers nowadays, watch other people play a game instead of themselves which is cringe as
