Strength: A myling is known to be quieter when hunting.
Weakness: Mylings more frequently make paranormal sounds.
The round I was just in gave us absolutely no evidence so we just ruled out the evidence we couldn't get for sure. I voted Goryo because during both hunts the ghost was singing the entire time while right next to us, but it ended up being a Myling anyways.
Mylings weakness is pretty clear and straightforward - it trips parabolic microphone more often than most ghosts
As for its strength, that's where it gets a bit more mechanically complex, but a simplified explanation is that you have to be closer to a myling during a hunt to hear it. Specifically... (mechanical spoilers) A mylings audible range during a hunt is the same as range that it can scramble nearby electronics, while other ghosts can be heard before that point
Side note: The hunting murmurs never have anything to do with the ghost type - it's just random chance what they choose to say during their hunts.
Mathematically it isn't impossible, however is is so unlikely, that i would guess, that it might be broken. Might be a good idea to verify the game file integrity just to make sure, that it isn't a corrupted game.
Nothing out of the ordinary here. The ghost model and hunting noise doesn't hint towards or against any ghost, so it is complete RNG in that regard. Also these 2 things never change throughout an investigation, no matter how many hunts you're getting
The quietness of the Myling only affects the footsteps. Usually they can be heard over 20 m, but for the Myling that's only 12 m. Since that's slightly below the range of where ghosts can interact with electronics, hearing the ghost before seeing electronics right next to you instantly rules out a Myling.
Though keep in mind, that a Raiju can affect electronics in a higher range, causing a similar effect, so make sure to rule a Raiju out by listening to its speed.
A very useful thing is to make sure your smudge sticks are on hand, and then you just make the ghost hunt on purpose by letting your sanity fall without using pills at all. So many ghosts can be ID'd in a hunt that you'll eventually get used to looking for evidence from behavior in addition to the normal evidence in the journal.
