Monkey's Paw wishes

For those wondering how to get these recorded, you can run into Sunny Meadows on custom with infinite sprint and a friendly ghost to get all the wishes safely. Look for a bunch of tags (kind of like toe tags for a morgue) and pick them up; they won't record in your journal immediately, but once you leave, they'll populate in there forever. For those who don't want to take the time, here are all the wishes, and what I've been able to figure out about them:


I wish to see the ghost: Makes the ghost appear in front of you, but it engages a cursed hunt after a few seconds similar to the summoning circle.

I wish for activity: Makes the ghost do a ton of events and interactions, but destroys the fuse box permanently. It also closes and locks the front door. After a while, the locked door icon vanished, but I was not able to open the door until I said...

I wish to leave: Made everything go black for a few seconds, then unlocked the door. presumably it would've unlocked normally after a hunt too.

I wish for sanity: Not 100% sure here; it dropped me from about 90% to 50% sanity. It may have effects if you have more people in the game (I was solo), or maybe it sets you based on current sanity...so if I'd been at 0%, it might've raised me up?

I wish to be safe: Hard to say on this too; I presume that it prevents hunts for a time. However, it also shattered a bunch of the lights on Tanglewood.

I wish for life: Did nothing on solo play. My assumption is that it will revive a teammate, but kill you. Have to test with a friend later.

I wish for the ghost to be trapped: Traps the ghost in its room, but locks the front door. After a while, the ghost hunted despite being at high sanity (was a Yokai and I wasn't talking), so I presume the hunt is guaranteed after a while. The door's locked icon vanished, but I wasn't able to open it from inside.

I wish for sunrise/clear skies/rain/snow/fog: Your vision goes black for a few seconds, and the weather changes. The only wish that appears to do exactly what you'd expect. NOTE: to get this wish to list itself in your journal, there are 5 tags side by side for the weather. Pick up all five of them and drop them, or it won't show up there.

I wish for anything: Get something random from the grab bag, you animal.

For the record, the paw on Tanglewood is in the dining room, inside the hutch near the refrigerator.

This should save people a little bit of time running around the asylum looking for the wishes ;) Finding the tags is not necessary, but doing so will make the wishes appear in your journal under the Cursed Possessions for later reference.

"To see the ghost" also appears to leave you blind?

i think wish for life(revive teammate one) has a small chance that you wont die while you make that wish, I revived my friend without death, dont know how it really works

Ahh thanks for that. I did it on a custom amateur setting just to get max wishes and had no hiding spots closed XD

I wonder if I just got lucky and had a ghost in a room where it couldn't trap me there (would make sense, since it was in the Tanglewood kitchen), so I never got stuck in a smaller room when I did the test. Good to know!

Has anyone had any ill effects that they've seen from wishing for life, or figured out the ins and outs of asking for sanity? Those are the ones I'm still trying to work out all the details on, but I play solo more often than not, so it's harder to decipher.

technically it is locking the ghost in whatever room its in. If you happen to be in the room you are trapped with it, but if you are outside the room you are fine. It really is a be careful what you wish for item.

Well .... whatever you do, dont wish to revive a freind cause it can kill you like it did me XD

I mean I would still do it if the dead friend was the one who put all the items in the truck. I dunno about anyone else, but I'm at least willing to take a death if it means they don't lose like two grand worth of items.

I wish for activity locking the front door without a hunt was way scarier to me than the ones that caused a blind hunt. Had no idea what was going on.

On Insym's video, after a long while after "I wish for activity" he was able to open the front door without using "I wish to leave" so, it should let you out eventually.
