Not sure why all the hate on it.
f-secure, webroot, Eset, all solid paid Antivirus, use far less resources than avast. defender uses less than avast. Also the false positives.... yeah
Before, I had bitdefender, which was slowing my pc a lot after 1-2 weeks. A little research shows that many had the same issue. Avira was annoying with all the pop-ups. Same with AVG.
I am not paying for anti virus and currently have windows defender, avast and malwarebytes. 3 are more than enough + common sense not to download crap. My pc also runs pretty fine and does not get slowed down by any of them.
I don't know what the best paid option is and I don't want to pay for one.
Also, avast gave 1 false positive in an entire year. For being free, they are all fine. It's not like I wasted money.
Maybe do more research then, cause you didn't do enough if you are really trying to justify using avast.
windows defender that comes with windows by default is far better resource wise.
You say you have both, but you are only running one. running both is stupid.
Malwarebytes is great for malware.
Defender which comes with windows is a better option than avast for a free AV.
But hey, use what you want, your PC and your resources being wasted.

edit:
Malwarebytes offers a free version you can scan with I run from time to time. But I have good practices on my phone, so don't run any AV on it as it uses extra resources. I might install a free one from time to time to run a scan.
But honestly could not give a good recommendation unless your willing to pay for one, which I don't feel is worth it, but for some it may be,
If your willing to pay, Nod32 is one I have used in the past, you can pay for 2in1 get it on your PC and phone.
Thank you for the suggestions though!
Do phones need it?
No, not really.
even with bad practices my dad uses, he gets viruses almost everyday on his PC, But every scan I have done on his phone, he has never had a virus.
Eventually viruses will be more of a thing for android and iphones, But that may possibly never be a thing.
Any AV should do for scans on a mobile, I just would not leave it installed as it will bog down resources which almost all phones lack as phone providers like to use all your resources with their crap apps
