And if you're playing on higher difficulties, then the game expects, that you know, what you're doing and won't put the training wheel on anymore. 2 seconds is harsh, but more then enough to get out of danger, if you're prepared properly.
And the game doesn't cheat. The ghost has a very specific set of actions, which defines what it can do and what not and you can easily read about it on the wiki. The only thing which you can't do is forecast the RNG-elements obviously, but you can adapt to it, again with proper preperations like using crucifixes, smudge sticks and escape routes.
Obviously, if you doesn't want to get better in these areas, then its propably better to stick to easier game modes or to build your own ones with higher grace periods.
if your having problems dying then you just need to learn how to play more cautiously instead of running in blind all the time, we got crucifix that prevents hunts all together, smudge sticks that can basicly be an extra life during hunts, hiding spots are everywhere make note of where they are as you search for the ghost room.
every ghost has a weakness as well, some arnt terribly usefull but its always good to try to atleast rule out Deogen as a ghost just in case. find some friends who can teach you or use them as meat shields, a good friend has no problems throwing other friends at blood thirsty ghosts.
However, I hear there's a bug relating to stairs where the ghost spawning in can be really weird and you don't hear it, happened to me once.
Regardless, there's nothing you could have done about it, its a legit bug, but in all my time playing, its only happened to me once.
I won't call the game bug free, but I've never felt like I really got "ripped off" by a bug other than that one time.
Yeah if it's only happened to you once, then it is probably a very rare bug. Any dev, not just the Phasmo crew, would have a bit of trouble nailing that one down without some dedicated hunters looking for a replication scenario.
And that's kind of the big takeaway here - the game is still in development, random freak bugs like that should be expected. They can't exclusively focus on rooting them all out though... or else those who demand new content don't get appeased anytime soon. Instead, they are more likely take the approach to patch bigger issues with updates that also have a bit of content.
It's not ever going to be a more focused approach, and it will take more time overall given there are only two people behind the code... but in order for the development to progress, they need to divide their attention equally - all we can do is be patient, or help them out by proactively seeking out those rarer bugs that need to be replicated in order to be dealt with.
Its not the devs fault, learn to play, respectfully. Thats no excuse. The Devs make sure we have a good, stable and enjoyable game, in my opinion the game is good.
I usually play with 0 grace period and its only really a problem 1/15-20 times
