1) They've established LoS to you (Deogen always have it established at all times)
2) They hear you
3) they sense electronics held in a players hand or on the VR belt (including cameras, which can't be turned off and except for the head camera, which can be safely carried around as for now, since you can't throw it away).
4) for a 50% chance, they'll run to the last location of the last run, where one of the above was true (only once at the beginning of a hunt and even if the check fails, it won't be carried over to the next hunt.)
so don't try to hide in a spot, where someone either died or needed to use a smudge stick in to repel the ghost. And also switch off items and use smudge sticks before entering the hiding spot to prevent it saving the position within the hiding spot for the next hunt (or hide somewhere else next time)
If you're going to use hands-free for a mic in this game, I recommend a few things.
First, you want your mic to be as close to your mouth as possible to improve that signal (your voice) to noise (background, keyboard) ratio.
Secondly, I recommend using something like Voicemeeter which lets you configure a noise gate. A noise gate will cut ALL audio going through your mic unless a certain volume threshold is met. This means that when set up correctly, if you're not talking, nobody is hearing anything.
My last piece of advice is to learn how to get better at moving around without a light on. If your light is off, and the ghost doesn't have line of sight on you, you're pretty much free to go wherever you want to hide.
Do you have to actually drop your equipment to hide, or just switching them out is enough??? Like, switch to a lighter, for example
I read somewhere you have to drop the camera, haven't tested it as I always drop it to make sure
Cameras are always active so yes. Any electric equipment that is either toggled to its active state or in constant operation must be either removed or turned off to avoid being detected by the ghost. Head cam is the only exception as it cannot be removed separately and cannot be turned off.
Electronics will be seen by the ghost, if you've them either on your hand or on the VR Belt, while they're on. They won't be registered, when they're in the inventory, except for the flashlight, which can still be registered, when they're on, even when they're in the inventory.
That said, you need to either drop the camera or switch to another item, which can be turned off normally. And if you're a VR player, then you definitely need to drop cameras.
Some things I will just drop, if it's not important, like a camera. My light I just turn off.
Though i imagine trying to get away from the ghost in complete darkness a real pain...
I've used this a few times once you get used to the layout of the buildings, that way you can run around without announcing where you are with the flashlight.
It can be a pain though, so not recommended, but if you find yourself in a pinch, it can be a lifeline.
