Ghost always chooses me over other people

So I know that everyone is just gonna say "LOL get gud bad lmao crybaby" but it has been the past 7-8 rounds after coming back (last time i played was before cursed possessions) and every time the ghost has hunted, between me and my three friends, even if the ghost hasnt seen me, it only goes for me and I have died every single round. The only problem is that i dont like to be a freeloader and i usually put all my stuff in for others to use. I mute my mic before a hunt, i turn off all electronics and most of the time actually drop the item i am carrying so there is no way for it to find me. Despite my friends triggering a hunt, looking at the ghost and running from it, it always goes after me. My friend actually got a video of the ghost going through him to get to me, not only that, but he was on the upstairs stairs on road house while i was hiding downstairs in a locker and it knew which locker i was in and killed me. I'm just confused and ive lost 2 grand today. Please, any advice would be great, thanks.

Was it by any chance a banshee? Because this ghosts actively chooses a target, which is the only person, the banshee cares about, as long as it is within the investigation area at the start of the hunt. When that happens, then other players can stay in line-of-sight with the banshee and even touch it without dying.

Also keep the Deogen in mind, which can always see every players. He'll choose the nearest player at the beginning of the hunt and then beelines to that target, randomly changing its target every now and then (but in case of the Deogen, people will still being killed, if they touch it, even when they're not the current target)

And overall once a ghost locks on to one player, then it'll chase this player, until it reaches their target. Only if you break line of sight will cause the ghost to search for new targets.

And last but not least a ghost has a 50% chance to remember the location of where it has seen someone in the last hunt, thus if someone has been seen in your hiding spot the last hunt, the ghost might run there first to check it (so preferably don't hide at a spot, were someone died in the last hunt or at least take a smudge stick with you, just in case)

the experience that i was referring to was a demon, tonight i did not have a deogen at all, it was pretty much just mimics, shades, and spirits. I always died on the first hunt too, unless i was not in the house to which my flashlight still flickered in the truck. smudge stick did not work either. I took one in a round after being in the truck the entire time so my friend could get a photo of the ghost on tanglewood since it was in the basement. i then smudged the top of the stairs, turned off my flashlight and ran towards the foyer closet and hid there (nobody else was there) while my friend attempted to loop the ghost in the kitchen, to where the ghost completely ignored him and came straight for me and opened the closet. Everyone was alive up at that point. Im just super confused. Most of the time when i hid in, say, a bathroom. The ghost wouldnt even open the door and i would just die. I dont know if its a glitch or what, but this happened before the cursed possessions update as well and it got me to stop playing. Oh well, I guess its just a skill issue on my part.

I suggest carrying the stick and prepare to light everytime. If you feel like the ghost are coming near then light it and move to next hiding spot or stay in same place
you have 5 sec of ghost getting stun and not seeing you and that will cuz them to wonder away

other possiblites is your friends are hacking..how much you know them? are they some funny people that enjoy pull prank on you and other? they might hack and possessed ghost and killing people

before going into a game, you should check that your mic get's muted correctly, maybe its getting some noise from somewhere and that's why you get killed, to test that, get into a game, and while on the van, mute the mic and check the audio settings and check if the mic bar moves or not, if it does, the problem is your mic, for example (what happened to me) is that my mic was picking up even the sound that was on my earphones, and had to change some configuration to separate the audio from the earphones and the mic

To borrow off what others have said, it definitely sounds like your mic is picking up additional noise somewhere. Ghosts will heat seek you down if they catch a hint of the mic going off, no matter how loud. My fan has killed me at least twice in the last week.

Do you have push-to-talk enabled? If not, do it then see if that fixes it.

always happening, i played with my friends the last 2 rounds with them and the last round with them was the demon experience i was talking about.

already checked that in both audio settings and in the game. seems that nothing is wrong. I do agree with another guy that said there might be a hacker in the lobby. there was definitely a guy who was cheating in a lobby i was in earlier in the night. (the ghost touched him during a hunt, consequently ending the hunt and he did not die) and it seems like it fixes itself whenever i restart my game (which i didnt do at all that night)

Also, i definitely had a cheater the other night before i started playing with my friends, the ghost touched him during a hunt, consequently ending the hunt and he did not die. He didn't even try to hide and obv he found all the evidences pretty easily.
