That is kind of sad because I see so many lobbies with people having thousands of levels, and unfortunately majority of them have cheated it.
It's the ones with 50k+ that are definitely cheaters- And I rather suspect that anyone with levels above the highest level verifiable players are going to get a special treat of a "Cheater" medal, or a snug pre-placement into the ban list when that gets up and running.
And to be clear here, The highest level legitimate player I personally know of is Shuee. She's level 23,000 or so as of June 12'th. (Probably higher by now.) with 4,800 hours played since the game entered early access as of June 7th (also prolly higher).
To put it in perspective, The game came out September 18'th 2020, And the last time Shuee reported her hours was June 7th, 2022; That's 1 year, 8 months, and 6 days. Broken down into hours, that gap of time has been 15,048 hours. Shuee spent 31.8~% of the last 1 year and 8 months playing Phasmophobia. The rest being, yknow, sleep, eating, work, etc.
So.. I honestly don't think any legitimate player has reached 30k, let alone 50k. They would have had to play nothing but Phasmophobia on off time just to match Shuee. And literally no-life the game since launch to surpass Shuee by any significant margin.
And, if it's not..yknow.. terribly obvious, Anyone at level 23,000ish or lower could have legitimately earned that level. They aren't necessarily all cheaters. Just cross reference hours played vs level if you're suspicious. It's an average of 200~ hours per 1,000 levels if you use Shuee as a measuring stick. (Probably more hours per 1k in the first couple thousand, and less hours in the later thousands due to being bad at first and gradually getting better at the game.)
